Role Overview
The Senior Executive – Raw Material Procurement is responsible for sourcing raw materials and packaging materials across GO DESi’s manufacturing facilities. The role ensures the timely procurement of materials at the optimal cost while maintaining quality standards to support uninterrupted production. The position involves supplier development, procurement planning, contract negotiations, inventory coordination, and compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Sourcing
- Sources and procures raw materials and packaging materials required for manufacturing operations.
- Manages procurement of key commodities, including: Cashew, Milk, Tamarind, Jaggery, Sugar, Fruit pulp, Spices, Coconut.
- Identifies, evaluates, onboards, and develops vendors, including farm-gate suppliers and mandi-level sourcing partners for seasonal agricultural commodities.
- Negotiates pricing, credit terms, and delivery schedules while finalizing annual and seasonal procurement contracts.
- Monitors agri-commodity market trends and develops procurement strategies, including bulk purchasing during harvest seasons, to optimize costs.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable sourcing and supply continuity.
- Ensures vendor compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements, including: FSSAI certification, GST documentation, Food-grade certifications, Quality test reports.
- Evaluates vendor performance through supplier scorecards and supports continuous supplier development initiatives.
Inventory and Production Coordination
- Raises purchase orders and coordinates with stores for Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), quality approvals, and procurement reconciliations.
- Collaborates with Production Planning and Stores teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stock shortages.
- Works closely with Quality Assurance and Food Technology teams to ensure all incoming materials meet defined quality specifications and food safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintains accurate procurement records, including: Landed cost analysis, Price history, Vendor performance records, Procurement savings, Material consumption reports.
- Supports data-driven procurement decisions through accurate reporting and cost analysis.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in: Food Technology, Agriculture, Related disciplines
- Supply Chain or Procurement certification is an added advantage.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in raw material and/or packaging procurement within: Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Food Processing, Agricultural Commodity Procurement.
- Experience sourcing agricultural commodities such as cashew, tamarind, jaggery, or similar raw materials is preferred.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Good understanding of landed cost calculations, price variance analysis, and Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of ERP and procurement management systems.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and quality standards for incoming raw materials.
- Willingness to travel regularly to manufacturing plants and supplier locations.
