Role Overview

The Technical Officer / Senior Project Associate will support an extramural research project focused on investigating immune responses associated with severe dengue infection. The role involves contributing to laboratory research activities, experimental design and execution, scientific data generation, and research support in the field of infectious diseases. The position is temporary, project-based, and intended for candidates with strong expertise in life sciences, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports research activities related to immune responses and severe dengue infection.
  • Conducts laboratory experiments in accordance with established scientific protocols.
  • Performs mammalian cell culture and other cell biology techniques as required.
  • Handles pathogenic viruses while adhering to biosafety and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Conducts molecular biology experiments and assists in protein expression and purification studies.
  • Generates, records, analyzes, and maintains high-quality experimental data.
  • Supports project documentation, scientific reporting, and maintenance of research records.
  • Collaborates with the Principal Investigator and research team to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional research, laboratory, and safety regulations.
  • Contributes to the successful execution of the funded research project through scientific and technical support.

Educational Requirements

Candidates should satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria:

Option 1

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, OR Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences
  • Minimum 4 years of research and development (R&D) experience in academic institutions, industrial organizations, or scientific and technological institutions.

Option 2

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Biological Sciences or related discipline).
  • Minimum 2 years of R&D experience in academic institutions, industrial organizations, or scientific and technological institutions.

Option 3

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in: Life Sciences, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Related disciplines
  • At least one first-author peer-reviewed publication indexed in recognized public databases such as PubMed or Scopus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

  • Infectious disease research.
  • Mammalian cell culture.
  • Handling of pathogenic viruses.
  • Protein expression and purification.
  • Molecular biology techniques.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong laboratory and experimental research skills.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease biology and immunology.
  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Scientific data recording, analysis, and documentation skills.

Compensation and Appointment Details

  • Monthly Emoluments: ₹57,000 plus 10% House Rent Allowance (HRA).
  • Age Limit: Maximum 50 years as of the interview date.
  • Number of Positions: One (1).
  • Appointment Duration: Initial appointment for six months, extendable based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.
  • The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the duration of the funded research project.
