Role Overview

The Plant Food Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous compliance of food safety systems within the production plant. The role focuses on maintaining food safety and quality standards through the management of prerequisite programs (PRPs), equipment calibration, cleaning and sanitation verification, pest control, customer complaint resolution, and food safety risk assessment initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of HACCP principles and supports the continuous improvement of food safety and quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure food safety and quality compliance across the production plant through effective implementation and verification of Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), including PRP Gemba (patrol walks), pest control management, equipment calibration, cleaning and sanitation verification, and other shop-floor food safety programs.
  • Investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement timely corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and consumer safety.
  • Perform routine PRP/GMP Gemba inspections to verify compliance with food safety, hygiene, and manufacturing standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate pest control programs, analyze trends, and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Verify the execution and effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation programs to maintain hygienic production conditions.
  • Coordinate and maintain equipment calibration schedules to ensure the accuracy and compliance of measuring and monitoring devices.
  • Support food safety risk assessment activities by implementing and monitoring food safety requirements issued through group procedures, requirement guidelines, and risk assessment programs.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of HACCP systems, ensuring effective control measures and prerequisite programs are consistently followed on the production floor.

Required Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Dairy Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • B.Tech. in Food Technology or an equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience, preferably in the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.
