About Mangrove Forest Division
The Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar, under the Government of Odisha, is responsible for conserving the ecologically important Bhitarkanika National Park and surrounding mangrove ecosystems. Roles and Responsibilities
The selected Wildlife Biologist will be responsible for:
Wildlife Surveys and Population Estimation
- Organizing and conducting periodic surveys.
- Estimating populations of birds, mammals, and other wildlife species of conservation importance.
Habitat Monitoring
- Monitoring habitats within:

Ecological Research

Capacity Building

General Conditions
Residential Requirement
The position is residential in nature. The selected candidate will be required to reside at the headquarters of the Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar.
Reporting Authority
The Wildlife Biologist will work under the direct supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar, and will undertake assignments as directed within the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar Circle.
Terms and Conditions of Engagement
- Duration: The engagement will initially remain valid until the end of FY 2026–27 and may be extended based on performance and administrative requirements.
- Working Hours: Given the nature of wildlife research, the selected candidate will be expected to remain available according to field exigencies, including work during holidays or beyond normal office hours whenever required.
- Leave: The candidate will be entitled to 15 days of Casual Leave (CL) per year, subject to prior approval of the Divisional Forest Officer.
- Remuneration: A consolidated remuneration of ₹50,000 per month will be paid, inclusive of all allowances such as TA, DA, and HRA.
- Termination: The Office reserves the right to terminate the engagement by providing one month’s notice, without assigning any reason.
Data Confidentiality and Intellectual Property
The selected candidate will be required to adhere to the following conditions:
- No official data related to the Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar shall be shared with any external organisation or individual without prior written approval of the competent authority.
- All reports, publications, scientific papers, and documents prepared during the tenure of engagement shall remain the exclusive property of the Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar.
- Any photographs, videos, GPS records, or other project-related data captured using personal devices shall be transferred to the official storage systems immediately, and no official data shall be retained on personal devices thereafter.
