About the Program
The BioWISE Program (Bio – Women in STEM Empowered) is a flagship initiative by the BeST – Bengaluru Science and Technology Cluster, an initiative of the Office of PSA, Government of India. The program is conducted in collaboration with the Biocon Foundation India, the CSR arm of Biocon Biologics, along with the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) as the academic and knowledge partner. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and workforce readiness by connecting academia, industry, and government stakeholders. Through research training, mentorship, and scholarship support, the program promotes Women in STEM and strengthens participation in Life Sciences Research.
BioWISE Postgraduate Internship and Scholarship Programme – Cohort 2
Details of the BioWISE Program
This 6-month initiative is designed to empower and inspire talented female students in STEM, particularly in life sciences, by offering:
- Hands-on research experience and scholarship support
- Expert mentorship
- Exposure to leading academic and R&D institutions and industry environments in Bengaluru
- Networking opportunities
- Life skill development
Selection Criteria for PG Students
- The scholarship supports Postgraduate (PG) female students.
- Must be a female student currently in the final year of Master’s studies or have completed their Master’s degree within the last one year and should not be enrolled in any other academic course.
- Must have consistently demonstrated strong academic performance, with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Should be willing to stay committed throughout the entire period of 6 months.
- Must belong to a family with low annual income (generally less than ₹6 lakhs per annum).
- Should be enrolled in or graduated from a Tier 2 or Tier 3 college or university located in Karnataka.
- Must exhibit a clear and demonstrated interest in applied research.
- First-generation learners will be given preference.
- Applicants must submit the attached self-declaration form to confirm first-generation learner status.
- Students and immediate relatives affiliated with our promoting partners (Biocon Group, BeST, or NCBS) are not eligible to apply.
