Project Details

  • Project Duration: 3 Years
  • Number of Positions: One (01)
  • Age Limit: Maximum 35 years (age relaxation applicable as per ANRF guidelines)
  • Project Title: Development of Integrated Approaches to Combat Destructive Tea Gray Blight Disease in India by Combining Outcomes of Pathogen Molecular Diversity, Fungicide Sensitivity, Microbial Antagonists, and Virulence Factors

Role Overview

The Tea Research Association (Tocklai Tea Research Institute) is inviting applications for the position of Project Associate-I under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India-sponsored project. The selected candidate will contribute to research focused on developing integrated strategies for the management of tea gray blight disease through pathogen characterization, disease management, and field-based research. The role involves planning and executing experiments, conducting field trials, analyzing research data, and contributing to scientific publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct project-related research on tea gray blight disease and associated plant pathogens.
  • Plan experimental designs and execute research activities in accordance with project objectives.
  • Conduct field trials to evaluate disease management strategies in tea plantations.
  • Assist in the identification and characterization of tea pathogens.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintain research documentation, and contribute to scientific publications.
  • Collaborate with project investigators and research staff to ensure timely completion of project milestones.

Essential Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences or Agricultural Sciences, or
  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or Botany with specialization in Plant Pathology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of research experience in tea pathogen identification or a closely related research area.
  • Experience in plant pathology, field experimentation, disease diagnostics, and agricultural research.
  • Knowledge of experimental design, statistical data analysis, and scientific writing.

Fellowship

  • ₹37,000 per month + 10% HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or any other national-level examination conducted by Central Government departments, agencies, or institutions.
  • ₹30,000 per month + 10% HRA for candidates who do not meet the above eligibility criteria.

Key Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of plant pathology and agricultural research methodologies.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute laboratory and field experiments.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and interpretation of research data.
  • Strong scientific writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
