Project Details

  • Project Title: Exploring Ribosome Hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a Potential Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Target
  • Project Duration: Initially one year.
  • Number of Positions: One (01).
  • Age Limit: 34 years as of 31 July 2026.
  • Fellowship: ₹42,000 per month plus 27% House Rent Allowance (HRA).

Role Overview

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is inviting applications for the position of Project Associate II to contribute to a research project focused on understanding ribosome hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a potential target for anti-tuberculosis drug development. The selected candidate will support advanced molecular biology and structural biology research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research related to ribosome hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • Perform molecular biology experiments, including gene cloning and recombinant protein expression.
  • Carry out protein purification and ribosome purification for downstream analyses.
  • Support cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) studies and structural characterization of biological macromolecules.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, analyze research data, and prepare scientific reports.
  • Collaborate with the research team and contribute to project objectives within established timelines.
  • Present research findings through technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications, where applicable.

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Life Sciences or a related discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Qualified in NET, DBT-JRF, GATE, or an equivalent national-level eligibility examination.
  • Minimum of two years of research and development experience in academic institutions, industrial R&D laboratories, science and technology organisations, or scientific research services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research experience in:
    • Gene cloning
    • Protein purification
    • Ribosome purification
    • Cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated motivation to pursue a career in scientific research.
