Program Overview

BRIC–National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (BRIC-NIAB), an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. Program in Biotechnology for the 2026–2027 Academic Session (RSP-IV). The doctoral program provides opportunities for advanced research in animal biotechnology, with a focus on improving animal health, productivity, and the human–animal interface through multidisciplinary and translational research.

Students admitted to the program will work under the guidance of internationally trained faculty and gain exposure to state-of-the-art research facilities in a collaborative scientific environment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess any one of the following qualifications:

  • M.Sc.
  • M.Tech.
  • Four-year B.Tech. degree in any branch of Life Sciences.

Candidates must hold a valid five-year national research fellowship, such as:

  • CSIR-UGC NET JRF
  • DBT JRF
  • ICMR JRF
  • INSPIRE Fellowship
  • UGC-RGNF
  • Any other equivalent national fellowship valid for five years.

Candidates possessing only GATE, GPAT, or other qualifying examinations without an associated five-year research fellowship are not eligible.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on two rounds of online interviews.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email.
  • Tentative interview dates: 27 July 2026 and 29 July 2026.
  • Selected candidates will be required to join the program on or before 10 August 2026.
