Role Overview
The Division of Biochemistry, ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT-NE), Government of India-funded project. The selected candidate will contribute to research on the nutritional and nutraceutical potential of traditional fermented soybean products, with a focus on developing value-added food products through biochemical and functional analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the nutritional and nutraceutical properties of fermented soybean products.
- Perform biochemical, food biochemistry, and functional analysis experiments.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of value-added food products.
- Apply biochemical and molecular techniques for project-related research activities.
- Analyze experimental data, maintain laboratory records, and prepare technical reports.
- Contribute to scientific publications, project documentation, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the research team to achieve project objectives within established timelines.
Essential Qualifications
- M.Sc. or M.Tech. (including Integrated M.Tech. 4+2) in:
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Plant Biochemistry
- Life Sciences
- Food Science
- Or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- NET/GATE qualification is not mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in:
- Food Biochemistry
- Extrusion Technology
- Functional Food Analysis
- Biochemical Techniques
- Related laboratory research methodologies
Fellowship
- ₹37,000 per month + HRA for candidates qualified through NET, GATE, or any National Eligibility Test, in accordance with DBT/DST guidelines.
Project Details
- Project Duration: 3 Years
- Initial Appointment: One year or until the project duration ends (whichever is earlier), with the possibility of annual extension based on satisfactory performance.
- Number of Positions: One (01)
Age Limit
- Maximum 35 years.
- Age relaxation:
- 3 years for OBC candidates.
- 5 years for SC/ST and Women candidates, as per Government of India rules.
