Role Overview
The Specification Management Senior Analyst will support the global R&D Specification Management teams through Hyderabad Business Services (HBS). The role focuses on developing, updating, and managing ingredient, formula, and packaging specifications while ensuring compliance with global standards and regulatory requirements.
The position requires close coordination with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to maintain accurate specification data, support system processes, and drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Specification Development & Management
- Develop and update ingredient, formula, and packaging specifications with accuracy and clarity
- Ensure specifications comply with global ingredient, supplier, and packaging standards
- Maintain existing specifications and support specification lifecycle management
- Upload and manage supplier specifications and qualification documents within systems such as SAP and Product Vision
Systems & Process Support
- Deliver training on specification systems, IT applications, and associated workflows
- Become certified as a Spec Writer according to Global Ingredient Standards
- Support system implementations and process improvements
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and employee upskilling
Stakeholder & Supplier Coordination
- Collaborate with Product Development, Food Safety, Regulatory Affairs, QA, Procurement, and Supplier Quality Assurance teams
- Maintain supplier relationships and act as the primary contact for specification-related information
- Collect supplier questionnaires and ensure alignment on specification requirements
- Conduct timely follow-ups to ensure completion of specification processes
Packaging Specification Activities
- Schedule and conduct Individual Component Specification (ICS) reviews
- Manage supplier approvals and document updates prior to internal reviews
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure all requests are completed within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Assess and escalate business-critical issues to avoid supply disruptions and production delays
- Support material testing requests and validate specification quality parameters where required
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and guide junior Specification Writing Analysts depending on team structure
- Review and validate technical work completed by team members
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Food Science
- Food Engineering
- Food Chemistry
- Microbiology
- Biochemical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
For Packaging-specific roles:
- Engineering or Packaging-related disciplines preferred
Experience
- 2–5 years of professional experience in the Food, Beverage, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
- 1–2 years of experience in Product Development or Specification Writing preferred
- Experience in technology system implementation or conversion is advantageous
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of Food Safety, Microbiology, and Regulatory Affairs (for formula and ingredient specifications)
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical information
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new systems and applications
