Project code: IRP-2025-2

  • Project title: Harnessing RNA-targeting CRISPR-Cas13 systems to inhibit flavivirus infection in Aedes mosquitoes
  • Project Investigators: Prof. Sanjay Ghosh, Prof. Shyam Sundar Rajagopalan (Co-PI)
  • Duration (months): 12
  • Post: PA, 1

Description: For this Research Jobs the selected candidate will analyze the DENV genome, establish CRISPR–Cas13–based assays in Aedes cell lines, and perform virus challenge assays.

Essential qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s or 2-year Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Biological Sciences or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a UGC recognized university/institution.
  • Experience in Molecular Biology and cell biology techniques.

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge of basic programming skills and bioinformatics tools.
  • Research experience in the relevant field.
  • Experience working in a cell culture facility.
  • Ability to maintain accurate lab records and data analyses, team player and willingness to learn

  • Project title: COMPASS-Core: Integrating Repeats, TF Motif Variants, and DNA Structure for Promoter Function Mapping
  • Project Investigators: Prof. Kshitish K Acharya (PI), Prof. S. Thiyagarajan (co-PI)
  • Duration (months): 12
  • Post: PDF, 1 or PA, 2

Description: For this Research Jobs candidate will be creating scripts, web interfaces, and visualization features as part of software being developed. In addition, the candidate will perform sequence- and structure-based analysis of DNA or protein-DNA interactions.

Essential qualifications:

  • PDF: PhD with thesis submitted or awarded in 2023 or later, with extensive computational and programming work.
  • PA: B.Tech or B.E. or Master’s degree (MSc OR equivalent) in Bioinformatics with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university, and a minimum of 6 months of certified programming work (project or internship work or other) experience.
  • Candidates with similar bachelor’s and master’s degree qualifications in other life sciences subjects will be eligible if,
    • Bioinformatics was the major subject for at least one year of their studies, and
    • They have a minimum of one year of certified programming work experience.
    • Proficiency in Python.

Desired skills: Experience and knowledge in computational structural biology and genomics.

Emoluments:

  • Consolidated Rs 30,000/- p.m. for Project Assistant, Rs 60,000/- p.m. for Postdoctoral Fellow. The selected candidate may be provided accommodation in IBAB hostel based on availability.
