Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. Established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), IISER Pune was declared an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 2012.
The Institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following post purely on temporary and contractual basis:

Project Title: “Mechanism of chromosome mis-segregation due to meiotic recombination at centromeres.”

Minimum Educational Qualification:
- M.Sc. / B. Tech in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Bioengineering with minimum 70% marks / equivalent grade.
- Preferably qualified in a national-level exam (e.g., NET).
- Additional percentage cut-off may be applied during screening if needed.
Preference: Candidates with the following experience will be preferred:
- Prior experience in molecular, cell biology, and biochemistry techniques.
- Previous work experience in bioinformatics and/or working with yeasts.
- Wet lab experience during Master’s thesis (mandatory).
- Experience handling/completing multiple independent projects.
Job Requirement: The incumbent is expected to:
- Help generate complex yeast genotypes and assist in their screening.
- Perform fluorescence microscopy-based experiments.
- Help generate mutant libraries and screen for chromosomal segregation-related phenotypes.
- Engage in bioinformatics and cell biology-related work.
Tenure of Appointment:
- For a period of one year, extendable subject to project continuation and satisfactory performance.
Consolidated Emoluments per Month:
- Rs. 25,000/- + 24% House Rent Allowance.
- Rs. 31,000/- + 24% House Rent Allowance (for candidates with valid CSIR-NET (Life Sciences), GATE (Life Sciences), CSIR-JRF, DBT-JRF, or any other National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments/agencies, or equivalent scorecard).
Age as on Last Date of Application:
- Not more than 35 years.
- Age relaxation may be considered for candidates with higher qualifications and experience than advertised, subject to approval by the competent authority.
