Job Description : Greenhouse operation is a support function catering to the need of Ag. Biotech programs at DKC Hyderabad. Person will serves on the greenhouse Operation team and will work in the greenhouse in a project based environment and would be involved in day to day research activities in greenhouses. Involved in plant care, quality plant and seed production and monitoring plant growing media preparation and greenhouse waste plant material disposal after de-vitalization. Interact with research scientists and research associates, collect and manage greenhouse data, provide
support to greenhouse operations in implementing research management system, supervise greenhouse contract technicians.Duties / Responsibilities
- Quality plant production – Seed germination, seedling raising and planting, Fertigation- deciding fertilizer dosages, developing and implementing Fertigation schedule, water and plant nutrition management.
- Plant protection – developing and implementing plant protection schedule, insect, pest and disease management
- Seed production -Carry out crossing activities in association with project personnel and meet the target self / crossed seed, seed bulk up, line conversion and advancement.
- Monitor – requirements of plant growing media, suitable agro climatic conditions in greenhouse for the optimum growth of the plants and waste disposal.
- Tracking plants and recording data at each stage using barcode and entering data into the corporate dB.
- Constant interaction and communication with project team for planning and execution of planned experiments.
- Supporting greenhouse operations in implementing research management system to plant production operations.
- Follow safety rules and site regulations in carrying out the assigned work
- Supervise the contract employ engaged in plant production operations.
- Seeking feedbacks from the customers
Job Qualifications
Educational Qualification Desired : Master degree (M.Sc.) in Agriculture Sciences / Life Science with specialization in agronomy / plant breeding or equivalent experience.
Competencies and Experience Desired
Three to five years research /working experience in greenhouses or field, knowledge and experience in water and plant nutrition management, plant protection management, greenhouse operations management. Technical background in breeding, seed and crop production in greenhouse/field. Good verbal and written communication skills. Data collection, analysis and statistical technique. Ability to motivate, supervise and get along with others, work in a team and having a bent of mind to learn new things and should be a keen observer.
