Job Description
The selected candidate for the research associate job will engage in groundbreaking work focused on the genomics of scented rice. Responsibilities include developing a platinum standard reference quality genome for Kola Joha rice and creating a comprehensive pan-genome landscape. This role is ideal for those with a strong background in bioinformatics and a passion for agricultural innovation.
Project Details:
- Project Title: “Genomics assisted improvement of scented rice from Assam (Joha) and Manipur for yield enhancement under stress and improved nutrition” (GAP-61)
- Principal Investigator: Prof. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC-NABI
- Co-Principal Investigator: Dr Joy K. Roy, Scientist-G, BRIC-NABI
- Positions: Research Associate-III (RA-III) (One position)
- Duration: Up to 11 June 2029 or availability of the project funds
Essential Qualification: PhD or equivalent degree with three years of research, teaching, and design and development experience after MVSc/M Pharma/ME/M Tech, including at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Experience:
- Bioinformatics analysis of large next-generation sequencing data (short reads and long reads) and bioinformatic pipeline development, especially in plants.
- Development of platinum standard reference quality genome assembly.
- Developing a super pan-genome landscape.
Job Responsibility:
- Development of platinum standard reference quality genome of Kola Joha rice.
- Developing a super pan-genomes landscape of Kola Joha and Manipur scented rice.
Emoluments: Rs. 67,000/- fixed/month + 18% HRA. FOR RA Emoluments and Eligibility conditions are as per DST OM: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26th June 2023.
Age limit: 40 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/PD as per GOI Instructions)
