Job Description

The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will contribute to a DBT-sponsored project titled “Deciphering Inositol polyphosphate roles as crosstalk modulators of (a)biotic stress adaptation and biotechnological application of underlying signalling routes to improve defence response and nutritional uptake in plants.” The successful candidate will engage in various experimental techniques, including growth chamber management, PCR, gene cloning, and protein expression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments related to plant biotechnology and stress adaptation.
  • Maintain and grow plants in controlled environments.
  • Perform PCR, gene cloning, and recombinant protein expression.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Center for Biotechnology in Faridabad.
  • Work on bacterial culturing and transgenic plant development.
  • Document and report experimental findings effectively.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to research discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the lab.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential: Candidates must hold an M.Sc. (First Division) in Plant Biotechnology or related fields. CSIR-NET qualification and experience in plant growth, PCR, gene cloning, and protein purification are mandatory.

Desirable: Experience in maintaining plants under growth chambers, bacterial culturing, and fluorescence imaging techniques will be advantageous. The candidate should be willing to work collaboratively at both the Regional Center for Biotechnology and JNU.

Fellowship: Rs. 37,000 + HRA (as per rules)

Tenure: The appointment is temporary and contingent upon DBT funding, lasting until July 2027 or until the project concludes, whichever comes first. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
