Role: Production Officer
Job Overview
The Senior Officer – Production is responsible for managing the designated team, plant, and materials (resources) within a culture of performance monitoring, review, and continuous action to ensure full compliance with Nestlé standards. The role shares responsibility with other Ensuring Supply processes, serving both internal and external customers, to maintain a low-cost, highly efficient, and sustainable operation.
Key Responsibilities
Product Manufacturing
- Generate and issue instructions to the factory shop floor and facilitate the execution of production instructions by allocating appropriate resources.
- Cascade and execute production plans and adjust operational activities based on situation assessment, available information, and resources to achieve optimum production performance in terms of manpower, materials, machinery, and production attainment.
- Plan, coordinate, and follow up on maintenance activities, including routine maintenance, periodic maintenance, and CIP/shutdown activities.
- Control production costs through efficient management of available resources according to standards while safeguarding product quality and employee safety.
Compliance
- Ensure product and process compliance, including adherence to regulatory requirements, by issuing instructions and monitoring relevant KPIs.
- Ensure workplace safety and effective communication of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) requirements to all team members.
Data Management & Systems
- Measure, analyze, and control line performance and labor variance using available systems and tools.
- Measure, analyze, and control material usage variance, including raw materials, packaging materials, and energy consumption, using available systems and tools.
Continuous Improvement
- Review process failures and execute continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities, evaluating proposals, and implementing solutions.
- Coordinate with other departments on production-related activities, including trials, new product development, and technical projects.
- Prepare relevant information and participate in standard audits such as HACCP, ISO, GMP, and other applicable audits as required.
Knowledge Management & People Development
- Coach and mentor team members to improve productivity and efficiency through the facilitation of the MBU concept.
- Train team members on manufacturing processes, technology, and standard operating procedures.
- Review and provide feedback to direct reports on performance against principal accountabilities and behavioral competencies to continually improve individual and team operational and technical capabilities.
- Communicate information effectively between management and the shop floor, ensuring two-way communication.
Technical Skills
The incumbent should possess:
- Understanding of manufacturing and filling/packing operations and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of the components of total production cost and the factors influencing it.
- Understanding of manufacturing, maintenance, and quality systems.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory, company, and factory standards, rules, and procedures.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental principles.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer knowledge and proficiency in relevant systems and tools.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech in Food Technology
Experience
- 2–7 years of relevant experience in production/manufacturing operations.
