Project Details

  • Project Title: Developing robust and cost-effective bio-manufacturing platform using an engineered mammary epithelial cell-based bioreactor for the production of human lactoferrin to treat iron deficiency anaemia.
  • PI: Dr. Nirmalya Ganguli. Scientist-E.

Available Positions

1. Project Research Scientist – I (1 Position)

  • Essential: Post Graduate Degree, including integrated PG degrees in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Etc).
  • Relevant: Candidates with a Ph.D. degree or relevant experience will be preferred.
  • Experience:
    Candidate with prior experience in any of the following areas will be preferred:

    • Substantial experience (preferably industrial) in mammalian cell culture-based biopharmaceutical production, with hands-on expertise in handling adherent and suspension mammalian cells for therapeutic protein expression.
    • Experience with industrial production cell lines such as Human embryonic kidney (HEK293F), Chinese Hamster Ovary cells (CHO), including clone development, productivity assessment, and maintenance of stable high-producing lines.
    • Strong experience in upstream process development (USP), including media optimization, feed strategy design, growth kinetics analysis, and application of Design of Experiments (DoE) for process parameter optimization.
    • Hands-on expertise in downstream processing (DSP), including protein recovery, chromatography-based purification using systems such as ÄKTA-Cytiva/NGC-BioRad, yield optimization, and purity assessment.
    • Practical exposure to bioreactor operations at 2–50 L scale, including single-use bioreactor systems, and control of critical parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and agitation.
    • Experience in process scale-up from laboratory to pilot scale.
    • Proficiency in analytical techniques, including ELISA, Western blotting, and endotoxin testing.
    • A strong understanding of GMP guidelines, process validation, batch documentation, and quality compliance standards.
  • Fellowship amount: Rs. 56000/- PM + 30% HRA (If applicable). The engagement shall be up to 6 months initially.
  • Age: 35 years.

2. Project Technical Support – II (1 Position)

  • Essential: Three Years Graduate degree in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Etc) + two years experience in the relevant subject.
  • Relevant: Candidates with experience as mentioned below will be preferred.
  • Experience:
    Candidate with prior experience in any of the following areas will be preferred:

    • Routine molecular biology work, i.e., preparation of agarose gel, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, media preparation, etc.
    • Routine laboratory maintenance work, i.e., autoclaving, cleaning of glassware, record keeping, stock maintenance, etc.
  • Fellowship amount: Rs. 20000/- PM + 30% HRA (If applicable). The engagement shall be up to 6 months initially.
  • Age: 35 years.
