About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mass spectrometry expert to join our Delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our efforts in analyzing mass spec data, developing methodologies, and integrating with multi-omics data. This role requires a deep understanding of metabolomics/proteomics and data analysis techniques along with strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with clients to understand their mass spec analysis needs and requirements, including familiarity with LC-MS/MS, MALDI workflows, and data collection methods.
- Utilize expertise in mass spectrometry LCMS and Imaging (MSI) data analysis to provide insightful solutions and recommendations.
- Collaborate with team members to explore and implement R and Python packages and ensure successful project execution within defined timelines.
- Understand spatially informed clustering algorithms and image registration techniques for MSI datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, chemists, and data scientists, to integrate metabolomics data with other omics data (genomics, proteomics) for comprehensive biological insights.
- Stay abreast of advancements in mass spectrometry technologies and methodologies, and implement cutting-edge techniques to enhance research capabilities.
- Generate comprehensive reports documenting analysis outcomes, findings, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure successful project execution within defined timelines.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. (with 1-2 years of relevant experience) or Masters (with 3-5 years of relevant experience) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in mass spectrometry analysis and working with mass spectrometry imaging data, including LC-MS/MS workflow and data acquisition methods.
- Proficient with labeled and unlabeled data with targeted and untargeted capture of metabolomics profiles.
- Experience working with data-independent and data-dependent acquisition of MS data.
- Expertise in kinetics and flux modeling of metabolic pathways from the labeled data.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, with the ability to learn new scientific packages/tools, including ScanPy/Squidpy.
- Experience with pathway enrichment analysis and associated tools and proficiency in using databases such as KEGG, HMDB, and mzCloud.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS, for data analysis and workflow development.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
