FDA approved Ebola vaccine – Ervebo, FDA Approved Drug for Ebola Zaire

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made a move that could save countless lives. It has approved a vaccine designed to fight against Ebola and this vaccine has a success rate of 100%. In the Ebola-devasted areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the drug, called Ervebo, has proven itself successfully in combating Ebola. Even though Ebola cases are uncommon in the United States, it still is a powerful weapon for healthcare workers.

The Ebola virus, just like any virus, it comes in more than one strain and it is difficult for scientists to deal with all those strains. The Zaire variant of this virus is one of the many troubling strains of Ebola and when treated with the Ervebo vaccine correctly, it proved to 100% effective.

Mark & Co., developed this drug. When it was administered for a minimum of 10 days before exposure to the virus, it had a record of 100% effectiveness. Ervebo vaccine has an ideal single-dose shot as it can be effective in areas ravaged by the virus where it can eliminate the multiple appointments for many doses.

Obviously, its

success rate is incredible and while its impact would be more in the areas where the virus seems to spread like wildfire, the approval of the drug from FDA means that if needed, it can be used in the United States.

The director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Peter Marks said in a statement, “Ebola virus disease is often deadly disease having no borders though it is a rare disease. When outbreaks do occur, for helping in the prevention of further outbreak and to stop the Ebola virus from spreading, vaccination is very essential. A major advance in helping to protect against the Zaire ebolavirus starts with the FDA’s approval and the FDA approved Ebola vaccine, along with with the U.S. government preparedness efforts advancement.”
