Project Details
- Project Title: “To develop a CO2-biorefinery by carbon capture from flue gas through medium-large scale microalgal biomass production as feedstock for biofuels and value-added products”.
- Funded By: DBT
- Location: Metabolic Engineering Group at ICGEB New Delhi
- Project Collaboration: This two-year project is undertaken in collaboration with CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, and CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur.
- Contract Duration: The positions are initially available for one year, with possible extensions based on candidate performance and fund availability.
Available Positions
1. Research Associates (RA-I/RA-II/RA-III)
- No. of Posts: 02
- Eligibility: PhD in Life Sciences/Biotechnology with experience in wet lab and molecular biology using algae.
- Skills: Should include in silico vector design, DNA cloning, Genetic transformation of microorganisms, PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR, GC-MS, Southern blot analysis, western blotting, DNA sequencing, outdoor cultivation of algae in photobioreactors, and in vitro maintenance of transgenic microalgae, etc.
2. Technical Assistant (TA)
- No. of Posts: 01
- Eligibility: MSc/ MTech in Life Sciences/ Biotechnology.
Job Description
The selected candidates will undertake algae cultivation, genetic engineering, and genome editing to enhance carbon capture from industrial flue gases. Candidates should have prior research experience in molecular biology and genetic engineering, strong scientific writing skills, the ability to interpret results, and a willingness to explore new tools to achieve the proposed objectives and develop proof of concept for commercial products.
