Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) invites applications from Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) for faculty positions at the levels of:

Essential Qualifications for Faculty Recruitment
Academic Qualification
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned, relevant, or allied subject from:
- An Indian University, or
- An accredited foreign university.
Eligibility Test Requirement
In addition to the above qualification, candidates must have:
- Cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR,
OR
- Cleared a similar test accredited by UGC such as:
- SLET
- SET
OR
- Been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 (and subsequent amendments), making them exempt from NET/SLET/SET requirements.
Ph.D. Candidates Registered Before 11 July 2009
Candidates who apply for Faculty Recruitment should be registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009, shall be governed by the regulations existing at that time, and may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to fulfillment of the following conditions:
- The Ph.D. degree was awarded in regular mode.
- The Ph.D. thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce was conducted.
- The candidate published two research papers from Ph.D. work, with at least one appearing in a refereed journal.

Experience and Eligibility Guidelines

The period spent acquiring M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. degrees shall not be counted as teaching or research experience for appointment purposes.
However, active service spent pursuing a research degree simultaneously with teaching assignments, without availing leave, shall be counted as teaching experience for direct recruitment or promotion.
- Relaxations in educational qualifications, age, and experience for reserved category candidates shall be applicable as per UGC and Government of India rules.

SC/ST Candidates
- SC/ST candidates must upload caste certificates issued by the competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India.
Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
- Candidates applying under the PwD category must upload a Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed Government of India format.
