Junior Research Fellow at INST | Life Sciences | Apply Now

The Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position. This INST recruitment drive is for a prestigious CSIR-funded project, and the project represents a cutting-edge intersection of nanotechnology and oncology, aiming to develop high-precision treatments for aggressive brain tumors.

About the Institute

INST Mohali is a premier research organization dedicated to the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Located in Knowledge City, SAS Nagar, the institute provides a vibrant environment for interdisciplinary research. An INST recruitment position offers scholars access to sophisticated instrumentation for nanoparticle synthesis, advanced imaging, and molecular characterization, making it a top choice for a high-impact Biotechnology Job.

Key Responsibilities

Glioblastoma is one of the most challenging cancers to treat due to its heterogeneity and the presence of cancer stem cells. This project utilizes a sophisticated three-pronged approach:

  • CD133 Targeting: Utilizing aptamers (chemical antibodies) to specifically bind to the CD133 marker, which is highly expressed on glioblastoma stem cells.
  • Epigenetic Modulation: Incorporating epigenetic-based therapies to reprogram the gene expression patterns of cancer cells.
  • Nanotherapy Delivery: Engineering novel nanoparticles to cross biological barriers and deliver the therapeutic payload directly to the tumor site.

Position & Project Details

This Junior Research Fellow role is a contractual position for a total project tenure of three years.

  • Designation: Junior Research Fellow (JRF).
  • Project Title: “CD133 Targeted Aptamer Tethered Epigenetic-Based Novel Nanotherapy for Glioblastoma”.
  • PI: Dr. Subhasree Roy Choudhury
  • Emoluments: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA (as per funding agency norms).
  • Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Life Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Nanobiotechnology, or related fields. Alternatively, B.S. (4 years), B.Pharm, BE, or B.Tech.
  • Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks and a valid NET or GATE score.
  • Job Description: Candidates must have experience in nanoparticle synthesis and characterization, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and animal handling.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 28 years (relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women and PH candidates).

Application Details

  1. Submission Mode: Email a single, combined PDF containing the filled application form, CV, and self-attested supporting documents to [email protected].
  2. Deadline: Applications must reach the Principal Investigator by March 6, 2026.
  3. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email for the interview.
  4. Contact: Dr. Subhasree Roy Choudhury, Scientist-E, INST Mohali.

Securing a Junior Research Fellow position at INST Mohali is a definitive step toward a career in advanced nanomedicine. This Biotechnology Job provides rare exposure to aptamer-based drug delivery systems and epigenetic research within a nationally recognized center of excellence. Given the project’s focus on glioblastoma, the work has significant clinical implications. Ensure your application emphasizes your hands-on skills in cell culture and nanobiotechnology to align with the technical requirements of Dr. Roy Choudhury’s lab.
