About the Centre

The Atal Incubation Centre – Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (AIC-CCMB) is a premier technology incubator established at CSIR-CCMB, Hyderabad, under the Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog, Government of India. It supports deep-science startups in life sciences and biotechnology. CSIR-CCMB provides over 35 genetic tests to clinicians across India. AIC-CCMB also conducts molecular diagnostics services through its Clinical Genomics & Bioinformatics vertical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the bioinformatics and laboratory team for samples requiring NGS-based services
  • Checking QC data, perform NGS data analysis following standard protocols and guidelines (exome, whole genome, mitochondrial genome), ability to troubleshoot data quality related and other technical issues
  • Filtering, short-listing & interpreting relevant disease causing variants from the list of annotated variants by correlating the available genomic resources (databases, prediction tools, ACMG guidelines etc.) and clinical information
  • Clinical report generation and work closely with the team to meet turnaround times (TATs)
  • Participation in internal research projects as and when required
  • Work closely with reporting manager to improve quality of the reporting process and report themselves
  • Addressing suitable techniques for validation of identified variants (as needed), primers/probes designing (as needed) and tracking the post NGS reporting developments

Required Experience

M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Human Genetics, Genomics, Medical Genetics, Clinical Genetics & Diagnostics or relevant discipline with minimum 1-2 years’ experience relevant to this job

Skills

  • Should be able to pick-up the job responsibilities efficiently in 3-4 months
  • Understanding of genetic disorders and ACMG guidelines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Prior experience in NGS technologies will be an added advantage
