Core Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for achieving business objectives by ensuring timely supply of requisite input materials such as raw materials, consumables, solvents, glasswares, reagents, and stationeries. This includes periodic follow-ups with all stakeholders, servicing both internal and external customers to meet organizational standards, as well as meeting the requirements of regulatory authorities.

Role Accountabilities:

• Submitting RFQ with vendors and updating the raw materials cost sheet
• Tracking the purchase request (PR) in SAP / requesting quotes for key raw materials and maintaining a tracker for the quotes submitted with the operations team for order processing
• Sourcing the right vendors globally for all raw materials, reagents, consumables, and choosing competitive vendors
• Supporting vendor safety audits and annual rate contract finalization
• Conducting negotiations with vendors on pricing, quality, INCOTERM, delivery turnaround time (TAT), etc.
• Analyzing spend data
• Providing monthly MIS support
• Identifying opportunities for executing annual rate contracts
• Coordinating with cross-functional teams for licensing requirements for restricted materials
• Managing vendor ratings
• Fulfilling end-user requirements for emergency quotes and material deliveries on a day-to-day basis
• Providing regular updates to end users

Experience:

• Strategic sourcing experience of 4-7 years in Pharma/CRO within a similar domain
• Sound knowledge of chemicals, APIs, impurities, working standards, excipients, cell culture media, glasswares, and packing materials

Technical/Functional Skills:

• Proficiency in SAP – MM module
• Knowledge of import regulations for licensed and restricted products
• Understanding of customs and excise procedures
• Strong negotiation skills and vendor development capabilities
• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)

Behavioral Skills:

• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong time management skills
• Customer-centric mindset with empathy and determination
• Positive attitude, ethics, and adherence to the code of conduct

Education:

• B.Sc. in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biotechnology (with Chemistry as one of the subjects in the degree)
• Diploma in Materials Management from a reputed institute is an added advantage
