The Research Executive position is available in our Homecare R&D Science & Technology team at Unilever R&D Bangalore.
Background:
The Hygiene team is involved in generating insights and delivering new technologies for delivering superior hygiene benefits through our products. One of the key thrust areas within the program is to build the Hygiene capabilities as well as identify and screen next-generation antimicrobial technologies for microbe control in hygiene, understanding the Mode of action of actives, prevention of Odour to claim hygiene benefits, and understanding the home microbiome with its attendant influence on human well-being.
Responsibilities:
The Research Executive is expected to:
- Carry out “in silico” experiments
- Design, develop and validate new tools for the analysis of Omics data with a focus on microbiome
- Build GSMMs of relevant microbes to predict their behavior
- Build workflows for data analysis of omics data using the best-in-class packages available
- Interpret data and communicate scientific results through technical reports and presentations
- Manage services (in specific areas as appropriate) through the audit of 3P partners and academics
Fields of Responsibility:
The Research Executive will be responsible for:
- Delivering data insights from Omics experiments, Biochemical pathway analysis, bringing new in silico capabilities for modeling and simulations
- Interacting with stakeholders within Unilever R&D Bangalore, outside Bangalore but within Unilever, and outside Unilever
- Collaborating with Home & Hygiene and Fabric Solution Global Design teams
- Interacting with Global Design teams in Mumbai, Casale, and Port Sunlight
- Coordinating with 3P labs and external partners for routine microbiological measurements and data generation
Desired Profile:
The desired profile for the Research Executive position:
- B.Tech in Biotechnology or M.Sc in Bioinformatics
- Strong programming background in either R or Python
- Hands-on experience in genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomic data analysis methods, and tools
- Interest in developing knowledge and understanding of current and emerging NGS data analysis techniques, protein modeling, MD simulations, etc.
- Experience in data validation and documentation
- Good understanding of statistics and data analysis tools
- Sound knowledge in basic data processing software
- Strong team player with good communication skills
