Notification

The Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM) has been working for School Education in the areas of Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education for Classes VI to XII under NIE which is a constituent unit of NCERT. NCERT is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India. It is proposed to fill the position of 01 Junior Project Fellow under PAB approved Programme No. 5 “Rashtriya Avishkar Saptah – 2023-24 on a Contractual Basis through Walk-in-Interview. The eligibility conditions and other requirements of the recruitment for the aforementioned post

are given below:

Tenure of the Fellowship – Upto 31st March 2024

Age Limit – Below 40 years (as of the last date of filing up the application) as per UGC guidelines. (5 years relaxation in the case of SC/ST and female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates)

How to Apply

  • Date & Time of the Interview – 22.05.2023 from 10:30 a.m. onwards. The registration of eligible candidates will be done from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. only and no candidate will be entertained after 11 a.m.
  • Venue – Conference Room, First Floor, DESM, Janaki Ammal Khand, DESM, NCERT, Sri Aurobindo Marg New Delhi-110 016.

Interested candidates who fulfill the required eligibility conditions as mentioned above, may attend the Walk-in-interview on the specified date and time along with their bio-data, original certificates/mark sheets/ testimonials/experience certificate(s), etc. One set of self-attested copies of certificates/testimonials and one passport-size photograph may also be submitted. A person whose minimum eligibility degree is awaited, please do not apply. Candidates attending the interview will not be paid any TA/DA by the NCERT. The candidates working with other organizations should forward the application through their employer or bring a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer at the time of the interview. The candidate who had already worked as Junior Project Fellow (JPF) in the NCERT for two and half years, need not apply again, as per NCERT norms. 

Essential: Master’s degree in Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/Life Sciences or any related discipline with a minimum of 55% Marks for the general category (50% marks in the case of SC/ST/PH)

Desirable:

  1. Degree/ Diploma in Education
  2. Knowledge of Computer Applications
  3. National Eligibility Test (NET)

Value of Fellowship

  • Rs.25,000/- p.m.(Fixed consolidated for NET Qualified candidate)
  • Rs.23,000/- p.m.(Fixed consolidated for Non-NET Qualified candidate)

Answer 1: I have a strong background in Science, Mathematics, and Environmental Education, specifically at the secondary school level. I have worked as a Science teacher for three years, where I developed and implemented engaging lesson plans aligned with the curriculum. Additionally, I have conducted research projects focused on enhancing student understanding of complex scientific concepts. My experience has equipped me with effective instructional strategies and a deep understanding of the subject matter.

Question 2: How would you contribute to the Rashtriya Avishkar Saptah project? Can you share any ideas or strategies you have in mind? Answer 2: I am passionate about promoting hands-on learning experiences in Science and Mathematics education. For the Rashtriya Avishkar Saptah project, I would propose organizing interactive workshops where students can actively participate in scientific experiments and problem-solving activities. This approach would foster their critical thinking skills and enhance their understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, I would leverage technology and computer applications to create engaging digital resources and interactive simulations that make learning more accessible and enjoyable for students.

Question 3: What is the significance of integrating technology and computer applications in science and mathematics education? How would you incorporate these tools into your teaching or research activities? Answer 3: Integrating technology and computer applications in science and mathematics education is crucial in today’s digital age. These tools provide opportunities for interactive learning, data analysis, and simulations that can enhance students’ understanding and engagement with the subject matter. In my teaching or research activities, I would incorporate technology by utilizing educational software, virtual labs, and multimedia resources to create dynamic and interactive learning environments. This approach would allow students to explore concepts, conduct virtual experiments, and visualize complex phenomena, thereby deepening their understanding and fostering a passion for scientific inquiry.

Question 4: Can you provide an example of a project or initiative where you collaborated with other team members to achieve a common goal? How did you contribute to the team’s success? Answer 4: During my previous role as a research assistant, I worked as part of a team to develop an innovative science curriculum for middle school students. I would actively listen to their perspectives, address their concerns, and incorporate their valuable feedback into the project. Additionally, I would leverage digital platforms and online collaboration tools to facilitate seamless communication and knowledge sharing among team members. By fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, we can collectively work towards achieving the goals of the project and ensuring its impact on science and mathematics education.
