Job Title : Junior Research Fellow – Genetic Gains Program
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian Nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow. The position is based at ICRISAT- Patancheru Hyderabad and reports to the Theme Leader- Pre-breeding.

ICRISAT and its partners help empower those living in the semi-arid tropics, especially smallholder farmers, to overcome poverty, hunger, malnutrition and a degraded environment through more efficient and profitable agriculture.
Responsibilities:
- Perform scientific research activities related to pre-breeding utilizing wild Cicer species for chickpea improvement under laboratory, greenhouse and field conditions under the supervision of the lead scientist
- Provide technical help in designing and implementing research experiments
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day research activities
- Data collection, and statistical analysis of experimental data
- Maintain and update electronic databases
- Assist the scientist in the preparation of technical reports, research articles and other related jobs.
Eligiblity : Post Graduate (M.Sc./ M. Tech) in Plant Breeding and Genetics/ Agricultural Biotechnology/ Botany from a reputed university with good academic record
Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a research institute, university or private sector company
Desired Profile :
- Ability to work under field conditions for extended hours
- Good knowledge of data management methods and ability to use spreadsheets and statistical software
- Candidate having hands-on experience in wide hybridization, plant tissue culture techniques and use of molecular markers preferred
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Good knowledge in data analysis desirable
- Good team player and adaptable to working in a multicultural team
General:
The position is for two years 10 months, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
