Project Vacancy for JRF position @ NEHU, Meghalaya
North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are “to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement”.
The jurisdiction of the University extended originally to the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland and the erstwhile Union Territories of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. With the establishment of the Nagaland University on 6th September 1994, the jurisdiction of NEHU ceased over Nagaland. Likewise with the establishment of the Mizoram University the jurisdiction of NEHU over Mizoram also ceased from June, 2001. Arunachal Pradesh has its own university. However the North-Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology located in Arunachal Pradesh is affiliated to NEHU.
Applications are invited for the post of JRF in a DBT-Twinning project entitled “Bioprospecting of Lactic Cultures from North-Eastern Region to Develop Functional Fermented Soya Foods with Potential Health Benefits”
under Dr. B. K. Mishra, Department of RDAP, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya in collaboration with ANAND Agricultural University, ANAND, Gujarat.The Post is purely temporary and terminable at any time without prior notice or assigning any reason thereof. The person engaged, shall not be entitled for any claim implicit or explicit for permanent absorption in the University. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Position Title: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Project Title: DBT-Twinning project “Bioprospecting of Lactic Cultures from North-Eastern Region to Develop Functional Fermented Soya Foods with Potential Health Benefits”
Number of position: 01
Duration: 1 year Extendable up to 2 years.
Qualification: M.Sc/M. Tech in Microbiology/Food/Dairy/Agriculture/ Industrial Microbiology/ Food Biotechnology / Microbial Food Technology with minimum 55% marks. (Preference will be given to candidates having NET/GATE or experience in similar work or those who wish to complete his/her Ph.D in the department)
Emoluments: As per DBT norms and may change as per DBT notifications from time to time + HRA as per NEHU norms.
*HRA shall be paid only in case the fellow is not provided University Accommodation/ Hostel.
