About the Institute

The Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre is the dedicated research arm of the Tata Medical Center in Kolkata. TTCRC brings together clinicians, scientists, bioinformaticians, and industry professionals to advance cancer diagnosis, treatment, and biomarker discovery. The institute focuses on translational research that bridges laboratory findings with clinical applications. Through multidisciplinary collaborations, TTCRC develops innovative and cost-effective strategies to improve cancer care and patient outcomes.

Minimum Required Qualifications/Experience

  • (a) MSc/MTech in any stream of Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Cell & Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with at least 2-3 years of experience (post MSc/MTech) working in genomics techniques is mandatory.
    Note: PhD holders will NOT be considered for this position
  • (b) Minimum one first authored publication of research article demonstrating relevant experience
  • (c) Familiarity with DNA and RNA extraction and quality check techniques, PCR, qRT-PCR, Sanger sequencing etc
  • (d) Familiarity with basic research laboratory protocols, procedures and techniques
  • (e) Experience of writing research papers/scientific reports
  • (f) Knowledge of advanced MS Excel, GraphPad Prism, Adobe Illustrator etc.

Additional Experience Preferable but not Mandatory

  • (a) Experience with patient samples handling
  • (b) Experience in high throughput sequencing
  • (c) Knowledge of LIMS (e.g., LabVantage) use for biobanking clinical samples
  • (d) Preliminary knowledge of NGS data analysis

  • (g) Strong written and oral communication

Selection of Candidate, Appointment Tenure

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Based on their interview performance, the recruiting panel will select the successful candidate. Appointment of the successful candidate to the position will initially be till March, 2027. Further renewal of contract is subject to satisfactory performance assessed through periodic appraisals and availability of intramural core grant to TTCRC by Tata Medical Center Trust.

Retainership and Benefits

INR 33,000/- per month (consolidated) commensurate to the candidate’s relevant experience for the role and interview performance. A corporate health insurance. No other allowances will be provided.
