RECRUITMENT FOR CLINICAL AND TECHNICAL POSITIONS

PBC conducts hypothesis driven research on the biological basis of childhood health and diseases. The knowledge generated will be incorporated in THSTI institutional networks in developing diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. The interdisciplinary effort will need to knit together expertise from the fields of pediatrics, infectious disease, microbiology, immunology, cell and molecular biology, systems biology, imaging studies, clinical trials, biostatistics and epidemiology, among others. The details of the projects under PBC are as below:
Project Code : 03
- Project Title : Creation of a Biorepository and Imaging Data Bank for Accelerating Evidence Generation to facilitate children to thrive
- Project Details : To develop and maintain a bio repository that will allow long term storage of the bio specimens being collected in an ongoing study. We propose to build infrastructure for long term stable systems that will allow better standardization collection, storage and retrieval of the bio specimens. We will use the opportunity of multiple serial ultrasound scans being conducted on the participants enrolled in the cohort to create a repository of ultrasound imaging data bank.

- Project Title : Zinc as an adjunct for the treatment of very severe disease in infants younger than 2 months
- Project Details : A collaborative bilateral clinical trialentitled “Zinc as an adjunct for the treatment of very severe disease in infants younger than 2 months” will be executed under the ‘Program of Cooperation’between the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institutions (Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Faridabad; Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad; Society for Applied Studies, New Delhi; Christian Medical College, Vellore) and the Norwegian Institutions (University of Bergen, Norway and Norwegian Institute of Life Sciences, Norway) under the agreement in Science and Technology between Government of Republic of India and Government of Kingdom of Norway g) This project has been awarded a Collaborative Research Grant on Global Health and Vaccination Research (GLOBVAC) by the Research Council of Norway and additional funding from CISMAC (Centre for Intervention Sciences in Maternal & Child Health), Norway h) The main objective of this randomized controlled trial(RCT) is to measure the efficacy of oral zinc given as an adjunct to standard therapy to infants less than 2 months of age with very severe disease in reducing case fatality.

- Job description: Supervise handling of samples, small equipment at bio repository lab, THSTI and clinical site and preparation of samples at clinical site. Should have experience in maintaining compliance with clinical research supervising and quality standards.
