GBU–UoE Collaboration
Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) has established a collaboration with the University of Edinburgh (UoE), United Kingdom, aimed at delivering global standards of education through an innovative, active learning-based curriculum, robust academic policies, and strong industrial engagement.
The University of Edinburgh (UoE) provides guidance on academic policies, infrastructure, facilities, and services, ensuring operational excellence in both teaching and research. Experienced faculty members from UoE visit GBU annually to enhance the curriculum and foster meaningful collaborations in research and teaching.
As part of this partnership, 25 MSc students from GBU are funded each year by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, to undertake research projects at the University of Edinburgh, U.K., as part of their MSc dissertations.

MSc Biotechnology Admission Procedure
Admission to the GBU MSc programme is based first on the Graduate Aptitude Test–Biotechnology (GAT-B). The merit list shall be prepared based on the marks/scores obtained in the GAT-B 2026 exam. Remaining seats will be filled using IIT-JAM 2026 and then CUET-PG 2026 (Life Science & Biotechnology) scores; for this, keep visiting the GBU website regularly. Stipend
All students enrolled in the Master’s degree programme at GBU will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. Additionally, GBU will provide ₹5,000 per month as partial support towards accommodation, making the total monthly support ₹10,000 per student.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in any field of science/technology as a subject in a 10+2+3/4/5 pattern of education with:
- (i) A minimum of 55% marks for GEN/OBC (50% for SC/ST) category in aggregate, or as specified by the university/institute; OR
- (ii) A minimum CGPA of 5.5 for GEN/OBC (5.0 for SC/ST) category on a scale of 10, with corresponding proportional requirements when scales differ (for example, 5.2 for GEN/OBC / 4.8 for SC/ST on a scale of 8).
2. Only GAT-B 2026-qualified candidates — students who have scored above the declared cut-off category-wise and have their names on the official merit list of GAT-B as declared by NTA — shall be considered first for admission to MSc degree programmes at GBU.
3. However, if seats remain vacant after the GAT-B 2026 admission round, students who have successfully cleared or scored above the declared cut-off category-wise of JAM 2026, and thereafter CUET PG 2026, can be considered for the remaining seats after due approval from competent authorities.
Reservation Policy
