Zoology Research Job Role Overview
The Senior Technical Assistant supports the Coastal Aquaculture Authority in monitoring and regulating coastal aquaculture activities. The role involves field inspections, sample collection and analysis, technical reporting, certification support, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with environmental and aquaculture quality standards. The position requires regular fieldwork, laboratory coordination, and communication with headquarters to facilitate effective implementation of coastal aquaculture regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coastal Aquaculture Monitoring
- Monitors coastal aquaculture establishments through field inspections and site visits.
- Collects water, soil, and aquatic animal samples from aquaculture farms for analysis.
- Conducts environmental assessments to monitor ecological conditions and regulatory compliance.
- Sample Analysis and Technical Reporting
- Performs analysis of water quality and other ecological parameters.
- Prepares detailed technical reports based on laboratory findings and field observations.
- Ensures timely submission of monthly activity reports and technical documentation to the headquarters.
- Regulatory and Certification Support
- Assists in processing proposals submitted by coastal aquaculture units.
- Supports certification of aquaculture inputs and regulatory documentation.
- Collects commercially available aquaculture input samples from farms, retailers, and distributors for quality assessment.
- Field Surveys and Stakeholder Engagement
- Conducts field surveys to assess aquaculture practices and environmental conditions.

Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines from a recognized university:
- Aquaculture
- Zoology
- Fisheries
- Marine Biology
- Equivalent related discipline
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of coastal aquaculture practices and aquatic environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge of water quality analysis and ecological assessment techniques.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and maintain accurate scientific documentation.

Compensation
- Monthly Salary: ₹56,640 (Basic Pay ₹35,400 plus applicable Dearness Allowance as per Central Government norms prevailing at the time of appointment).
Age Criteria
- Maximum age: 32 years.
- Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules.
Appointment Details
- The appointment is purely contractual for an initial period of one year or until completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
- The engagement does not confer any right to permanent employment within BECIL or the Coastal Aquaculture Authority.
- Continuation of the contract is subject to project requirements and organisational discretion.
