Qualifications
- Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Virology/ Microbiology/ Parasitology/ Biotechnology from a recognized institution with First class aggregate
- Desirable: 1-year lab experience in Virology/ Microbiology/ Parasitology/ Biotechnology
Emoluments: Rs. 35,000 (consolidated)

- Interested candidates can Apply on the proforma attached at Annexure ‘A’ along with certificate of age, qualification, experience, and category (if any) complete in all respects on or before 24th July 2026 by 04:00 PM positively in the office of the Department of Virology, Room No. 608, Research Block-A, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
- No individual letters will be issued for this recruitment.
- Application should be clearly labelled as “Application for the post of Research Assistant” without which it will be rejected.
Note
- It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the applications are received timely in the department.
- Applications received after the due date shall be summarily rejected.
- The department will not be responsible for any postal delay.
- The list of eligible/non-eligible candidates shall be uploaded on the PGIMER website along with the date and time of the written test/interview.
- The authority reserves the right to change/cancel the program due to administrative issues.
- The candidate will be shortlisted based on a written test with minimum qualifying marks of 40%. Top 5 shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
Terms & Conditions
- It is the candidates’ responsibility to ascertain and ensure their eligibility as per the prescribed qualification and experience. False declarations or information will lead to removal from service and further action as deemed necessary.
- Tenure: The assignments are purely on a contract basis for an initial period up to 30th September 2026 and do not guarantee permanent employment.
- Expiry of Contract: The contract will automatically expire on 30th September 2026 or earlier depending on the funding agency’s decision.
- Leave: Governed as per the DHR/ICMR leave policy.
- No accommodation is provided.
- Canvassing will lead to disqualification.
- Minimum qualifications are required and do not guarantee selection.
- Appointment is full-time; private practice is prohibited.
- May require shift work and field visits; emergency night duty possible.
- Expected to adhere to institutional rules of conduct and discipline.
- The selection decision is final with no representations entertained.
- Incomplete applications without required documents will be rejected.
- Authorities may amend, cancel, or change advertisement without notice.
- OBC candidates must submit valid certificates as per government guidelines.
- Reservations for SC/ST/OBC and PWD as per rules.
