Syngene Careers has announced an exciting opportunity for the position of Scientist – Downstream Process Development in Bangalore. If you have a Master’s degree in Life Science, Biotechnology, or a related field and are looking to build your Biotechnology career, this could be the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience in biopharmaceutical development with one of India’s top research organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and optimising purification processes for novel fusion antibodies, ensuring scalability and robustness.
- Plan and execute experiments for late-phase process development, process characterisation, and lifecycle management activities.
- Support the DSP team with the preparation of buffers, column packing, and evaluation.
- Maintain real-time electronic lab notebook documentation in compliance with data integrity standards.
- Contribute to process scale-up and technology transfer to GMP manufacturing facilities.
- Author and review protocols, reports, scale-up & scale-down studies, tech transfer documents, deviation reports, and executed batch records.
- Troubleshoot purification workflows using ÄKTA Pure and TFF systems and implement sustainable improvements.
- Compile and analyse experimental data and prepare technical reports.
- Present findings during team discussions and weekly project meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Maintain 5S laboratory standards and an organised work environment.
- Support breakdown management of downstream equipment and serve as the point of contact for instrument functionality.
- Facilitate procurement and inventory management of raw materials and consumables.
- Participate in quality investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with documentation and archival processes in electronic systems.
- Follow Syngene safety guidelines, SOPs, and laboratory procedures.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Life Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
Experience
- Relevant hands-on experience in downstream process development, particularly in monoclonal antibody (mAb) purification, is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills Needed
- Strong theoretical understanding of downstream purification principles.
- Practical laboratory experience is desirable but not required.
- Quick learning ability with an enthusiastic, sincere, and positive attitude.
- Hardworking with a strong commitment to quality.
- Exposure to a GLP-compliant laboratory environment is preferred.
- Good documentation and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
