Project Details

  • Project Title: Carbon capture over biocoal for lipase production using acetate generated from CO2 via microbial electrosynthesis
  • Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Sunil A. Patil
    Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
  • Number of Positions: 01 Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
  • Duration: Initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension to another year, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The notice period for termination is one month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on the DBT-funded research project titled Carbon capture over biocoal for lipase production using acetate generated from CO2 via microbial electrosynthesis.
  • Conduct research related to carbon capture and CO2 utilization biotechnologies.
  • Participate in microbial electrosynthesis and gas fermentation studies.
  • Assist in reactor designing and optimization activities.
  • Perform laboratory experiments and analytical studies.
  • Support project-related research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in the Biotechnology or Microbiology discipline with a good academic track record as per DBT manpower recruitment guidelines.
  • Candidates with a Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Bioscience & Bioengineering OR Chemical Engineering will also be considered.
  • Applicants should also have qualified for one of the following:
    • CSIR/UGC National Eligibility Test
    • GATE
    • Equivalent national-level examinations

Experience

Desired Experience

  • Prior research experience/hands-on training with:
    • Bioelectrochemical systems
    • Reactor designing and optimization
    • CO2 utilization biotechnologies
    • Microbial electrosynthesis
    • Gas fermentation
    • Anaerobic microbiology

Skills Needed

  • Candidates with experience in the following analytical techniques will be preferred:
    • Electrochemical analysis (CA, CV, EIS)
    • HPLC/LC-MS
    • GC (gaseous analysis)
    • GC-MS
    • Laboratory research and experimental design
    • Scientific documentation and reporting

Fellowship Amount

INR 37,000 per month
HRA as per DBT norms
