VIT ANRF-JRF Biotech Fellowship 2026

Applications are invited for the Post of ANRF-Junior Research Fellow (ANRF-JRF) for the ANRF Funded Project in the Centre for Bio Separation Technology (CBST), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore.

Project Title

Haplotype based validation of the role of a lectin gene (SalT) operational at the interface of abiotic (salinity) and biotic (blast disease) stress resistance through in-planta as well as ex-planta strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on the ANRF-funded research project focusing on the validation of the role of the lectin gene (SalT).
  • Participate in in-planta and ex-planta research strategies related to salinity and blast disease stress resistance.
  • Travel frequently between VIT, University of Hyderabad, and MSSRF, Chennai for research work and data collection.
  • Work independently in a collaborative multi-lab research environment.
  • Contribute to scientific writing and research presentations.
  • Support ongoing research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

M.Tech/M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Life Science with minimum 60% aggregate.

Eligibility

Candidates must have qualified in at least one of the following national-level examinations:

  • CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship)
  • GATE
  • Any other equivalent national-level examination conducted by Central Government Departments/Agencies (e.g., DBT, ICMR, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD)

Age Limit

28 years as on the date of application.

Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas can apply:

  • Protein purification
  • Recombinant protein expression
  • Isothermal Titration Calorimetry
  • X-ray crystallography
  • Lectin biology

If performed well, the candidate can be shifted to Ph.D. course work as per university norms.

Fellowship Details

With GATE/NET Qualification

  • JRF (1-2 Years): Rs. 37,000/- per month
  • 10% HRA (Rs. 3,700/- per month)
  • SRF (3-4 Years): Rs. 42,000/- per month
  • 10% HRA (Rs. 4,200/- per month)

Without GATE/NET Qualification: Fellowship will be revised as per Institute norms.
