The ICAR – National Research Center for Banana has invited applications for Young Professionals Jobs under an ICAR-funded project entitled:
“Enabling climate resilience and ensuring food and nutritional security through gene editing in horticultural crops: sub-scheme – Application of genome editing to develop trait-specific varieties/hybrids in banana crops.”
This MSc Biotechnology Vacancy is purely temporary and project-based.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on genome editing in banana crops under the ICAR-funded project.
- Conduct virus diagnostics and related molecular biology experiments.
- Perform ELISA, PCR, western blotting, gene expression studies, and purification of viral proteins.
- Participate in LFIA kit development and virus indexing activities.
- Support research activities related to food and nutritional security through climate-resilient horticultural crops.

Qualifications
Essential Qualification:
- First class in B.Sc. Agriculture / Horticulture / Microbiology / Biotechnology
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology / Life Science / Biotechnology / Botany / Zoology with a minimum of years of experience in the related field.
Desirable Qualification:
M.Sc. in Plant Pathology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences with minimum one year of research experience on virus diagnostics, with expertise in:

- Genome editing
- Having a minimum of 1 research paper with NAAS-rated (>8.0) journals.
Experience Required
- Minimum one year of research experience in the related field.

- Candidates with publication records in NAAS-rated journals will have an added advantage.

- Age limit: Not more than 35 years for men and 40 years for women for Senior Research Fellow, and minimum age 21 years and Maximum age 45 years for Young Professional – I. Age relaxation shall be applicable for the post as per the rules.
- The above positions are purely on a temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. There is no provision for re-employment after termination of the project. The selected candidate will not have any right to claim pay scale or absorption against any regular post being vacant on a later date at this institute.
