Role Overview

The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will contribute to a research project focused on understanding the genetic and genomic mechanisms underlying bacterial inhibition of pathogenic fungi. The role offers hands-on experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, while working in a collaborative research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in rearing, maintaining, and co-culturing fungi and bacteria
  • Conduct experiments related to microbial interactions
  • Perform transcriptomic and genomic data analysis
  • Maintain accurate records for research, audits, and publications
  • Support laboratory operations including procurement and maintenance of reagents, supplies, and biological materials
  • Collaborate with research team members to achieve project objectives

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in any branch of Biology from a recognized university or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience in Research & Development in academic, industrial, or scientific institutions
  • Qualification in a national-level examination such as NET, GATE, DBT-JRF, or equivalent

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in isolating and handling macrofungi
  • Knowledge of transcriptomics and genomics
  • Proficiency in advanced molecular biology techniques
  • Experience in handling live microbes
  • Strong bioinformatics skills, particularly in high-throughput data analysis

Compensation

Emoluments will be provided as per ANRF norms and project sanction
