Job Title: Sensory Analyst
Job Purpose:
The Sensory Analyst is responsible for conducting sensory and physical evaluations of finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards. The role involves analysis, documentation, and coordination with relevant departments to maintain product integrity and support the quality control system.
Key Responsibilities as Sensory Analyst
Sensory & Physical Analysis:
- Conduct sensory analysis of finished goods (FG) from Mixing & Blending and Production.
- Perform physical evaluation of products per quality requirements.
- Analyze and report customer complaint samples.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Coordinate with Production & Formulation (P&F) teams for sample collection and result reporting.
- Maintain records for all sensory analysis activities.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of final product samples.
- Record and verify Certificate of Analysis (COA) data.
Quality System Implementation & Compliance:
- Support the implementation of quality systems and good laboratory practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, statutory, and procedural requirements.
- Maintain QC records and reports.
- Assist in audits and compliance activities.
Instrument Calibration & Method Validation:
- Perform calibration and performance verification of lab instruments.
- Validate test methods and ensure their accuracy.
- Analyze residue and heavy metals in finished goods, semi-finished goods, and additives.
Development & Investigations:
- Conducted investigations related to customer complaints about finished goods.
- Participate in developmental work using techniques such as GC, HPLC, AAS, and GC-MS.
- Perform recurring analysis for customer returns and complaints.
Laboratory Maintenance & Efficiency:
- Ensure compliance with 5S practices in the lab.
- Calibrate and maintain glassware.
- Adhere to good laboratory practices (GLP) and safety protocols.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Adherence to audits and compliance standards.
- Achievement of first-time quality targets for FG/SFG.
- On-time in full (OTIF) compliance for quality checks.
- Reduction in customer complaints through practical analysis and reporting.
- Continuous employee development and engagement in quality initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in sensory analysis, quality control, or a related function in the food or pharmaceutical industry.
Skills & Competencies required for Sensory Analyst
- Strong sensory evaluation and analytical skills.
- Experience with lab instruments (GC, HPLC, AAS, GC-MS).
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, compliance, and documentation.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
