About the Department
The Department of Biological Sciences at SRM University-AP offers B.Sc. (Hons) Integrative Biology, M.Sc. Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, PhD degree and Postdoctoral Fellowships on various subjects. All programmes are research-intensive covering cutting-edge topics. The Department has outstanding, internationally recognised faculty supported by excellent facilities for both teaching and research. The Department is equipped with state-of-the-art labs with several essential instruments such as high-speed centrifuges, spectrophotometers, PCR machines, real time PCR, FPLC, shakers, incubators, multimode plate reader, fluorescence microscope, BSL2 facility, High performance computing clusters (HPCC) etc. https://srmap.edu.in/seas/biological-sciences
Faculty: The department has outstanding, internationally recognised faculty trained from premier institutes of National
and International level. Faculty members with publications from the top-most journals including Nature, Science, Nature Microbiology, Plos Biology, PNAS, Green Chemistry, Applied Materials and Interface etc.Funding: The Department has ongoing projects with a total value of 7 crores with support from SRIM AP, DBT, DST-SERB (SRG, CRG, SURE), DBT-Wellcome Trust, ICMR.
INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
The University invites applications from researchers seeking nominations to apply for the DBT-funded Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship. Fellows selected will be hosted by the Department of Biological Sciences at SRM University-AP.
Area of Research: Applicant working in the areas of bio-engineering, bioinformatics, disease biology, and allied areas are encouraged to apply.
DBT Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellows are considered equivalent to regular Assistant Professors of the university and are entitled to all the support provided to regular faculty members at SRM University-AP.

Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellows will be given favourable consideration for regular faculty positions at SRM University-AP whenever such positions are advertised.
Track record: SRM University-AP has successfully hosted Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellows (1), DBT-Wellcome Trust Fellow (1), DST-INSPIRE Faculty Fellows (4), all of whom have been absorbed as regular faculty members at Assistant or Associate Professor levels. Currently, the university is hosting 1 DST-Ramanujan Fellow and 1 DST-INSPIRE Faculty.
Important Instructions
Candidates will undergo a shortlisting process. This involves evaluating the merit of their research proposal, followed by a presentation and interactions with departmental faculty members. Short-listed applicants will receive a host institution endorsement/sponsorship certificate.
Eligibility Criteria: Only applicants eligible for the Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship will be considered.
Application Requirements: Completed fellowship applications must include:
- Proposal (as per the format given by DBT)
- Summary of infrastructure, equipment support, or any special requirement necessary for your research (300 words maximum)
- CV with details of 2 referees
- 1st page of three most significant publications
