Job Title: Molecular Biologist

Location: West Bengal, India

Job Description

The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks to recruit two (2) dynamic Molecular Biologist consultants for the West Bengal Project: ‘Developing local Seed Potato Production System in West Bengal’.

Position Details for Molecular Biologist at CIP 

  • Locations: Kolkata (1) and Mohit Nagar (1), West Bengal
  • Consultancy Fee: INR 40,000 – 45,000 per month
  • Reporting to: Principal Scientist

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics of potato seed and soil-borne diseases
  • Develop and implement plant diagnostic or prevention programs
  • Provide integrated approaches to monitoring and managing crop pests/disease
  • Prepare inventory list and procurement reagents
  • Provide safety recommendations on pesticide handling

Requirements for Molecular Biologist at CIP 

Selection Criteria:

  • MSc in Plant Pathology (PhD preferred but not required)
  • 3-5 years of experience in molecular laboratory work
  • Project coordination and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Willingness to work in rural, resource-limited areas
