Research Position available in DBT project:
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for a Project Associate-1 position in the Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute for Science Education and Research Kolkata, in the project, “Engineering of a novel enzymatic pathway to enable conversion of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) to bioethanol and its integration with cellulose hydrolysis,” a project in the lab of Supratim Datta and funded by the DBT.
Brief description: The project involves combining molecular biology, enzyme engineering, biochemical and biophysical characterization, structural and computational biology, high-throughput screening, and genomic and proteomic discovery to identify enzyme targets.
Duration: Initial appointments will be made for 12 months, and upon satisfactory performance, they will be extendable every year for the duration of the project.
Essential qualifications: B.Tech./B.E./MSc in Biotechnology/Biochemistry, etc., and as per terms and conditions laid down by DBT.
Desirable qualification: Experience in any of the following areas:
- Molecular biology
- Protein biochemistry
- Protein engineering
- Synthetic biology
