1. M.Sc. or Equivalent Degrees
Applicants with an M.Sc. or equivalent in Life Sciences or related fields can apply for CSIR NET. Eligible degrees include Integrated BS-MS, BS-4 years, BE, B. Tech, B. Pharma, and MBBS, with a minimum of 55% for General (UR)/General-EWS and 50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third

CSIR NET June 2024 Eligibility – Candidates enrolled in M.Sc. or those who have completed 10+2+3 years of the qualifying examination can apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category. However, they need to complete their qualifying degree with the required percentage within two years from the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Test result declaration. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification, and candidates must submit a certified attestation form from the Head of the Department/Institute.
3. B.Sc. (Hons.) or Equivalent Degrees
Candidates with a B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree are eligible to apply, needing a minimum of 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and 50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. This eligibility also extends to students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD programs.
4. B.E./B.S./B.Tech./B.Pharma/MBBS Final Year Candidates
CSIR NET June 2024 Eligibility – Final year or result awaited candidates of B.E., B.S., B.Tech., B.Pharma, and MBBS degrees can apply for fellowship only, excluding eligibility for lectureship/Assistant Professor positions. Similarly, B.Sc. (Hons.) final year/result awaited candidates are not eligible to apply.
5. UGC Notification and Ph.D. Degree Holders
Degrees mentioned in the UGC Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July 2014, along with any later changes, are considered. Ph.D. degree holders who completed their Master’s degree before 19th September 1991, with at least 50% marks, can apply for Lectureship/Assistant Professor positions.

6. Third Gender Category
Candidates in the Third gender category receive the same relaxations in fee, age, and eligibility criteria as provided to SC/ST categories. The subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for the Third gender category will be the lowest among SC/ST/PwD/OBC–NCL/General-EWS categories in the respective subject.

(a) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
For JRF, the maximum age limit is 28 years as of 01/07/2023. However, this upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/Persons with Disability (PwD)/female applicants and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants. It’s crucial to note that this age limit is applicable for the current examination cycle only. (b) Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor

- If a candidate exceeds the age limit for JRF (NET), they will automatically be considered for Lectureship/Assistant Professor (NET) only. Candidates with M.Sc. qualification or in the M.Sc. Result Awaited (RA) category are eligible for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor, given they meet the specified eligibility criteria by the UGC.
- The National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC), National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC), and the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF) are subject to the guidelines available on the official websites of the concerned Ministries and/or the UGC.
- The selection process for the following fellowships, National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC) and National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC), will be conducted through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Minorities Affairs.
