A walk-in-interviews will be going to held on 19th May ,2023 at Institute of Forest Biodiversity (IFB), Dulapally, Kompally (S.O.), Hyderabad, Telangana -500 100. For the positions of Junior Project Fellow (JPF) under the research projects. Details of the advertisement are available in IFB Website (http://ifb.icfre.org & www.icfre.org) Interested and eligible candidates are requested to attend the walk-in-interview for the following positions:

Project Period: From 2019 to 2025

Essential Qualifications – First Class M.Sc. in Forestry/Agriculture (Plant Breeding /Seed Technology)/Botany.

Desirable Qualifications 

  1. Working experience in the Selection of Germplasm/Seed processing.
  2. Knowledge of Computer applications

Total Emoluments – Rs.20000/- per month+ HRA

Name of the Project: Bioprospecting for industrial utilization for lesser known forest plants

Project Code: AICRP-16

Project Investigator: Dr.Pankaj Singh, Scientist-C

Project Period: From 2019 to 2025

Essential Qualifications – First class M.Sc in Botany / Forestry/ Agricultural( Biochemistry).

Desirable Qualifications  – Good knowledge of taxonomy having experience in the herbal product formulations from natural resources with computer applications

Total Emoluments – Rs.20000/- per month+ HRA

Terms & Conditions

  1. Only Indian Nationals are eligible
  2. Upper age limit for JRF/JPF is 28 Years as of 01.06.2023 which is relaxable up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC
  3. The Position is temporary and Co-terminus with the project
  4. Recruitment for the above temporary positions is governed by rules of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and does not guarantee subsequent employment in any Institute under the council
  5. The interested Candidates may appear before the Selection Committee with all their original certificates, mark sheets with a self-attested copy of each of it, as per the date and time given below. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk in interview
  6. Offer of Engagement to the selected candidates will be issued subject to availability of funds and approval of the Competent Authority. Tenure mentioned in the advertisement is tentative and liable to be curtailed/ extended as per decision of the Competent Authority.
  7. If it is found at any stage of the process of thereafter that the candidate doesn’t fulfil the eligibility criteria, their candidature shall be cancelled without assigning and reason whatsoever. Further, the decision of Director, IFB with regard to the selection process will be treated as find and binding to all concerned. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained by the Institute
  8. The Candidates have to strictly follow the form annexed-1 (Typed/filled) duly signed and submit on the date of Interview.
  9. The selection process may continue till late evening/ next day. Candidates are advised to come prepared accordingly

Answer: In my previous research, I have focused on bioprospecting lesser-known forest plants for industrial utilization. I have conducted surveys and field studies to identify plant species with potential bioactive compounds. I have then extracted and analyzed these compounds using various laboratory techniques. Additionally, I have been involved in formulating herbal products using these natural resources, considering their medicinal properties and potential commercial applications.
  4. How familiar are you with taxonomy and its importance in botanical research? Can you provide examples of how you have utilized your knowledge of taxonomy in your previous work? Answer: Taxonomy plays a crucial role in botanical research as it involves the identification, classification, and naming of plant species. In my previous work, I have extensively applied my knowledge of taxonomy to accurately identify plant specimens and verify their botanical characteristics. This involved employing taxonomic keys, microscopic analysis, and comparative studies with existing plant collections. Accurate taxonomy is essential for ensuring reliable and consistent data in botanical research.
  5. Can you discuss your approach to working in a temporary project-based position? How do you adapt to changing project requirements and timelines? Answer: As a researcher in temporary project-based positions, I understand the dynamic nature of such roles. I approach these positions with adaptability and flexibility, recognizing that project requirements and timelines may change over time. I prioritize effective communication and collaboration with team members to align efforts and address evolving project needs. Additionally, I actively seek opportunities to enhance my skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the project’s goals and objectives.
