Project Name: “Investigating life histories and growth-defense tradeoffs in grass species of Manas Terai Ecosystem, lower Assam”

About the Project: The position will be based at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, yet the Fellow will certainly have to spend extended periods on fieldwork in Manas National Park. The project will certainly entail extensive field-based of studies of the distributions of grass species, ecophysiological measurements, and laboratory chemical analyses. Applicants with experience in field botanical research in tropical grasslands or forests, ecological knowledge on plant life histories, competition as well as succession, would certainly be favoured.

Funding Agency: Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of DST, Govt. of India.

Duration: The initial appointment will be for one-year, and also extendable to an overall of 2 years based on performance as well as research interests.

Essential qualification: Applicants should have M.Sc./ M.Phil./ M.Tech in Biological Sciences/Ecology/Botany/ Environmental Science/Geography/Forestry/ or closely allied subjects, with at the very least 55% marks, and also should have qualified at least one nationwide level examination such as NET-LS, GATE, JGEEBILS, or equivalent exams.

Salary: Fellowship will be per SERB-DST guidelines, which is Rs. 31,000/- monthly plus applicable HRA per SERB-DST Rules.
