for academic excellence in science

This award, sponsored by Wockhardt Laboratories, Mumbai is Open to any citizen of India/OCI working at any given recognized minority institution of this country (such as Jamia Hamdard) or minority applicants working at any institution anywhere in India not exceeding 50 years of age, as reckoned on 31st December 2018

Sayeeda Begum Woman Scientist Prize
(comprising of a plaque and Rs. 2 Lakh cash)

This award is open only to women scientists, working at any Recognized minority institution in India (such as Jamia Hamdard) or minority women working in any institution anywhere in India, not exceeding 45 years of age, as reckoned on 31st December 2018.

Wockhardt Excellence Award-2019

1. Background

Jamia Hamdard invites nominations for its “Wockhardt Excellence Award-2019” for outstanding contributions in the fields of Biological, Chemical, Engineering Science & Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Medical Sciences. This Yearly Award is instituted by Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard and Founder Chairman and Group CEO of Wockhardt Limited.

2. Nature of the Award:

The Award consists of a Silver Plaque, Rs.3 Lakh cash plus a Citation.

3. Eligibility

i) Any citizen of India engaged in research in the aforementioned areas, working in any recognized minority institution of this country (such as Jamia Hamdard) or minority applicants working anywhere in India not exceeding 50 years of age, as reckoned on 31st December 2018. an overseas citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) working in India will also be eligible.

ii) The Award will be bestowed upon a person that, as judged by JH, has made clearly important and outstanding contributions to human knowledge and advancement – fundamental and applied in any of the above-mentioned areas.

iii) The Awardee will be chosen on the basis of contributions made through work done in India during the five years preceding the year of this Award.

4. Process of Selection

In selecting the Awardee, the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard will be guided by the recommendations of a Jury consisting of highly skilled experts in a variety of fields where the Award is given.

5. Application/Nomination Process

i) A candidate can apply or send in nomination through anyone of these strictly in the prescribed proforma. A nominator can send just 1 nomination.

ii) The Authorities who can nominate are Secretaries of S&T Departments; user Ministries/Department including Atomic Energy, Commerce, Environment & Forest, Health and Family Welfare, Human Resource Development, Industry, New and Renewable Energy, Earth Sciences, SpaceMembers of the Standing Advisory Committee (Overseas) of DBT; Director General of Scientific Organizations (CSIR, DRDO, ICMR); Presidents of Scientific Societies and Academies of all India character; Chairman UGC; Vice Chancellors/Directors of Universities and Deemed Universities; Directors of National Research Laboratories and Advisor/Member (Science).

iii) Application/Nomination must include a certificate authenticating the minority character of the Institution in which the applicant is working.

iv) Original + four copies of this application/nomination has to be forwarded latest by July 15, 2019, to the Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi 110062. A CD/DVD/USB flash drive is also required containing digital photo (JPEG format), duly filled proforma and significant publications (PDF format) of this candidate. The envelope ought to be superscribed with ‘Application/Nomination for Wockhardt Excellence Award’.

6. Presentation of Award

i) The name(s) of the Awardee will be announced during the next Founder’s Day of Jamia Hamdard.

ii) The Award will be presented within the next convocation of Jamia Hamdard.

Sayeeda Begum Woman Scientist Prize-2019

1. Background

Jamia Hamdard (JH) invites nominations for the “Sayeeda Begum Woman Scientist Prize-2019”, to be awarded Every Year in the memory of Late Mrs. Sayeeda Begum, wife of late Hakeem Abdul Hameed, founder of Jamia Hamdard, to Recognize academic excellence of women scientists working at Jamia Hamdard or in Some other recognized minority institution of the country in basic and applied research In the fields of biosciences, biotechnology, biomedical, pharmaceutical and environmental sciences.

2. Nature of this Prize

The “Sayeeda Begum Woman Scientist Prize” will be in recognition of academic Excellence of a woman scientist below 45 years of age in basic and applied research In the areas of biosciences, biotechnology, biomedical, pharmaceutical and environmental sciences. Contributions made during past 5 years would be the primary consideration. The Award consists of a Plaque, Rs. two Lakh cash plus a Citation.

3. Eligibility

i) The Prize is solely for the women scientists engaged in basic and applied Research in biosciences, biotechnology, biomedical, pharmaceutical and Environmental sciences, working at any given recognized minority institution in India (such as Jamia Hamdard) or minority women working in almost any institution anywhere in India, not exceeding 45 years old, as reckoned on 31st December 2018.

ii) The Prize is open to women citizens of India, Overseas citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) working in India.

iii) The Prize will be given on the basis of contributions made through work done In India during the five years preceding the year of the Prize.

4. The award of this Prize
