INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP FOR PURSUING DOCTORAL PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), a Scheme of the Government of India, Provides a standing opportunity for pursuing Doctoral Research at any recognized University or Institute in India through Fellowships in the level same as National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified Applicants.
Advances in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is being implemented by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) to fortify the National Science and Technology base. INSPIRE Fellowship Scheme of INSPIRE Programme is focused on attraction of student to pursue doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences such as engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc. after either masters’ degree in Science/ Applied Science
/ Engineering or bachelor/ masters’ degree in Medicine.Table of Contents
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Applications are encouraged from I) INSPIRE Scholars after conclusion of the post-graduation degree in Science regions and ii) University level First Rank holders in the Post-graduate Degrees in Basic/Applied Sciences/Engineering OR Graduate/Post-graduate Degree in Medicine at any recognized Indian University or Institute/Statutory Body in India for award of INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP. The Fellowship shall be provided only on the grounds of availability of fellowships in the present year.
ELIGIBILITY
i) INSPIRE Scholar having secured minimum 70% marks (or CGPA equal ) in aggregate in M.Sc. Or Integrated M.S. / M.Sc.
ii) 1st Rank Holder at University level examination in each Post-Graduate (PG) level examinations in Basic/ Applied Sciences such as Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Sciences from any recognized University and academic Institutions (Excluding Autonomous Colleges) in India. 1st Rank Holders in the Graduate/Post-graduate Level Examination in Medicine only conducted by a University/ Institution in India are eligible to apply. 1st Rank ought to be of obtained in a minimum batch size of 10 students in that university level examination with minimum aggregate of 70% marks (or even CGPA equal ) of their whole course/ program.
But, Students who are i) 1st Rank Holder in College such as Autonomous College Examination, ii) obtained degree (s) via Distance Education Mode and iii) 1st Rank Holder in any specialization given at M.Sc. 2nd/ last Year, aren’t eligible. These students will only be eligible for admission to pursue f u l l – t i m e research, leading to PhD in almost any Indian University/ National Institute/ National Laboratories in India.
Candidates that are just Indian Citizen and have obtained their eligibility for INSPIRE Fellowship during the Last year (2017) or Current year (2018) are eligible. However, students who are currently enjoying Senior Research 11th Advertisement INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP FOR PURSUING DOCTORAL PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CALL FOR APPLICATIONS ELIGIBILITY Fellowship (SRF) or higher position in any project need not apply for this. Merely having the eligibility doesn’t guarantee offer of INSPIRE Fellowship.
Already provisionally or finally selected students to INSPIRE Fellowship in any previous advertisement, need not apply again, their application will be rejected.
AMOUNT, NUMBER & DURATION OF FELLOWSHIP
It provides financial aid in the form of a Fellowship according to GoI norms fellowship (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) and research grant to the candidate. There’s a provision of 1000 INSPIRE Fellowships to be offered/given annually to qualified students and every Fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years or completion of the PhD degree, whichever is sooner. This Fellowship will not be available to pursue M.Sc. Or M. Phil. Or M. Tech. Course while pursuing Integrated M.Sc.-Ph. D./ M. Phil.-Ph. D./ M. Tech.-Ph. D. courses. However, a continuation of this Fellowship for once chosen applicants is based on satisfactory performance certified by the institution according to stipulated GOI guidelines for such Fellowship.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Selection among the eligible applicants is done in 2 stages i.e. Level I and Level II.
- Applicants that have already admitted into PhD Program in S&T prior to submitting an application and chosen at both Level I & Level II, will be awarded with Final Offer of the INSPIRE Fellowship.
- Applicants who have not admitted into PhD Program in S&T before submitting an application and chosen only in Level I, will be awarded with the Provisional Offer of INSPIRE Fellowship.
The Provisional Offer is made on the basis of scrutiny of application along with required documents (Level I) submitted by the applicant. However, the Final Offer is made on the basis of evaluation of this application in Level II on i) Academic merit ii) Host Institution such as Research Supervisor and iii) the detailed Research Proposal by the Expert Panel. In this Evaluation Process applicants needs to secure a minimal qualifying score/cutoff as recommended by the Expert Panel and approved by the competent authority. [ For instance, minimum cut-off marks were 60 out of 100 to eventually offer INSPIRE Fellowship in previous cases]. The cut-off marks might change on the competitive frame of the selection procedure. Additionally, it’s essential to be aware that Provisional offer doesn’t guarantee that the award of INSPIRE Fellowship.
HOW TO APPLY
Students will need to apply through On-line mode only. To apply Online, please see the site: http://www.onlineinspire.gov.in and follow the procedure as prescribed therein. The Online application submissions will be commenced from 10th September, 2018 and will be available up to 10th October 2018. No Print out of Application copy needs to be delivered to us.
The approach is totally online; there will be no scope for making any intimation for an incomplete or erroneously filled application. Incomplete or erroneously filled up application or application with insufficient essential documents will undoubtedly be rejected. Any legal proceedings regarding any matter of dispute or claim arising from this advertising and / or application could be lodged only in Delhi Courts/ Tribunals/ Forums and Delhi Courts / Tribunal/ Forums only will have the sole and exclusive jurisdiction to try any case / dispute.
