- PREAMBLE
Mission Innovation (MI) is an International initiative of 23 Nations along with the European Union to accelerate the Global clean energy creation. As part of the initiative, the participating countries have committed to double their government’s clean energy research and development (R&D) investments within five years while promoting greater degree of private sector investments in clean energy technology. These extra resources will radically accelerate the access to the innovative technologies which will define a long term global energy mix that’s clean, affordable, and dependable. Mission Innovation was declared on November 30, 2015, as world leaders came together in Paris to tackle ambitious efforts to fight climate change.
MI nations have agreed to double their R&D investments from foundation year of 2015 in five years i.e. from 2020. Government of India has awarded the duty Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science &
; Technology to organize the Indian MI actions (Please see details in www.mission-innovation-india.net).2. OBJECTIVES:
The Aim of this Call will be to tackle Joint Research &Development with manhood MI states in The discipline of innovative renewable Biofuels, which is generated from non-food biological substances. Generation of low price high performance Enzymes and yeasts are vital for decreasing the production prices of Biofuels. Exchange of best practices in feedstocks including, collection, handling, transportation and pre-treatment practices and incorporated bio refinery jobs require extensive R&D. The technology developed needs to be scalable and economical in long term.
3. PURPOSE:
The purpose of Creating a Sustainable Biofuels Joint phone would be to create ways to create, at scale, Widely affordable, innovative biofuels for industrial and transportation applications. Additionally, the objective is to conduct research, demonstration and development (RD&D) to cultivate engineering innovations which are technically viable, cost-effective and robust. It’s forecast to evolve technology and create strategies and business units tunable to neighborhood in addition to at international demands.
4. SCOPE:
This funding opportunity will financially support actions, of Indian investigators, towards layout, Research &demonstration and development which may cover the dilemma of growth of broadly affordable, Advanced Biofuels. The two Bilateral and Multilateral collaborations involving Indian scientists and scientists in MI member nations of IC#4 Innovation Challenge are inside the scope of this call.
5. IDENTIFIED RESEARCH PRIORITIES:
Indicative list of all R&D priority regions identified for this particular call are recorded below:
- Research and enhance upon engineering for creation of renewable Advanced Biofuels from agricultural residues resulting in price reduction in job capital and surgeries Utilization of MSW for CNG/Methanol
- LCA for generation of biofuels for ecological impact evaluation Development and demonstration of biorefinery with higher value by merchandise Microbial fermentation of waste material for innovative biofuel production
- Production of low price high performance enzymes and yeasts for biofuel/bio-products including genetic manipulations.
- Advanced methods such as developments of biological feedstocks
- Lignin valorization
- Generation of innovative biofuels such as biobutanol, biohydrogen, drop-in fuels, bio-jet fuels, hydrocarbons etc with artificial and systems biology approaches.
- Heterotrophic algal generation from waste flow.
6. ELIGIBILITY:
The suggestions have to be directed by qualified researchers/ specialists in Science, Technology and Engineering areas working in routine position in Indian associations drawn from academia and people financed R&D labs. DSIR recognized industrial R&D units may collectively use with academia for financing with matching grant.
The institutions/industries of Mission Innovation (MI) member nations are welcome to combine the Partnership with the direct Indian institute / company to perform collaborative work. Even though there’s absolutely no limitation on upper variety of engaging MI nations (such as European Union), involvement of a minumum of one company (institution/industry/researcher) in MI nation is compulsory.
The funds under this phone will be supplied to successful Indian researchers / Institutes that are predicted to draw ordinary R&D programs from the listed areas with institutes or researchers of MI member nations. The MI member nations are invited to share in this call by offering financial aid to their own researchers / institutes. Lead Indian PI submitting this LOI proposal will want to identify and get researcher/institute out of MI states listed above to their own interest and involvement in this programme.
