Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) is a national Academic and Research institute under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, engaged in research and development in the areas of food processing and value addition. IIFPT offers B. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph.D. programs in Food Process Engineering and Ph.D. in Biotechnology.

Applications are invited from bright, dynamic and highly motivated candidates for the following faculty positions @ IIFPT, Thanjavur under direct recruitment mode.

I. Position Title : Associate professor

No of Posts : (Eight Posts: UR-5, OBC-2, ST -1);

Salary : PB-III: Rs.15,600-39,100/- RGP: Rs.8,000/- (Pay is subject to revision under 7th Pay Commission)

Essential Qualifications for Associate Professors (Food Process Engineering / Agricultural Process Engineering) (six posts)

(i). Doctoral Degree in Post Harvest Technology / Food Technology / Food Engineering, Food Process Engineering or Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering / Chemical Engineering specialized in Food Process Engineering preferably with Academic work pertaining to food processing.

(ii). Four years experience in the relevant subject as Assistant Professor / or in an equivalent position in the Pay Scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 RGP: Rs.6,000/- having made contribution to research / teaching / extension education as evidenced by Published work/ Innovations

OR

Doctoral degree in the relevant subject including relevant basic Sciences with 4 years experience of high quality post Doctoral research in an Institution of repute, evidenced by publications in high impact / renowned journal.

(iii). For Technology and Engineering graduates: Doctoral degree in Post Harvest Technology/Food Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering and at least 3 years of teaching/research experience in relevant field.

(iv). Evidence of contribution to Research/Teaching/extension education as supported by published work / innovations.

(v). Specialization in the post harvest technology of foods / grains.

(vi). For experience:- Candidates should enclose service certificates in support of their claim of possessing experience. These certificates should be obtained from the concerned employer and should specify job description of the candidates.
Essential Qualifications for Associate Professors (Agricultural Entomology) (one post)
(i). Doctoral degree in Agricultural Entomology (specialization in Storage Entomology is preferred) preferably with Academic work pertaining to food processing.
(ii). Four years experience in the relevant subject as Assistant Professor / or in an equivalent position in the Pay Scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 RGP: Rs.6,000/- having made contribution to research / teaching / extension education as evidenced by Published work/ Innovations.
OR
Doctoral degree in the relevant subject including relevant basic Sciences with 4 years experience of high quality post Doctoral research in an Institution of repute, evidenced by publications in high impact / renowned journal

(i). Doctoral degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology (specialization in Food Processing area is preferred) preferably with Academic work pertaining to food processing.

(ii). Four years experience in the relevant subject as Assistant Professor / or in an equivalent position in the Pay Scale of Rs.15,600-39,100 RGP: Rs.6,000/- having made contribution to research / teaching / extension education as evidenced by Published work/ Innovations.
OR
Doctoral degree in the relevant subject including relevant basic Sciences with 4 years experience of high quality post Doctoral research in an Institution of repute, evidenced by publications in high impact / renowned journal.

Recruitment Process : Through Open competition.

Age Limit: Not exceeding 45 years. There will not be maximum age limit for IIFPT employees. For candidates belonging to SC / ST and OBC category as per GOI Rules.


II. Position Title : Associate professor

No of Posts : (One post: UR)

Salary : PB-III: Rs.15,600-39,100/- RGP: Rs.6,000/- (Pay is subject to revision under 7th Pay Commission)

(i). Master Degree in Biochemistry (Specialization in the food processing area is preferred).
(ii). If candidates with Doctoral degrees in relevant subjects are available they will be preferred over the Master’s Degree holders.
(iii). Desirable Qualifications: (1.) Ph.D in the relevant field (2.) National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified

Recruitment Process : Through Open competition by screening test and interview.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 30 years and 33 years in case of Ph.D. holders. In service candidates of the IIFPT less than 35 years are also eligible.


III. Position Title : Professor

No of Posts : (Six Posts: UR – 5, OBC – 1)

Salary : PB-IV: Rs.37400-67000 RGP: Rs.10000 (Pay is subject to revision under 7th Pay Commission)

Essential Qualifications for Professors (Food Process Engineering / Agricultural Process Engineering) (five posts)

(i). Doctoral Degree in Post Harvest Technology / Food Technology / Food Engineering or Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering / Chemical Engineering specialized in Food Process Engineering.
(ii). 10 years experience in a Research / Teaching / Extension education provided 3 years experience is as an Associate Professor GP Rs.9,000/- (Rs.12,000-18,300) or in an equivalent position.
(iii). Evidence of contribution to Research / Teaching / Extension education as supported by published work / innovations
(iv). Specialization in the post harvest technology.

Essential Qualifications for Professor (Biochemistry) (one post)

(i). Doctoral Degree in Biochemistry or Similar qualification preferably with academic work pertaining to Food Processing.
(ii). 10 years experience in a Research / Teaching / Extension education provided 3 years experience is as an Associate Professor GP Rs.9,000/- (Rs.12,000-18,300) or in an equivalent position.
(iii). Evidence of contribution to Research / Teaching / Extension education as supported by published work / innovations.
(iv). Specialization in the post harvest technology.
(v). For experience: Candidates should enclose service certificates in support of their claim of possessing experience. These certificates should be obtained from the concerned employer and should specify job description of the candidates.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 50yrs. There will be No Maximum age Limit for the IIFPT employees. For candidates belonging to SC/ ST and OBC category as per GOI Rules.


Instruction To Candidates

      1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
      2. The candidates can download the application form and other related information from the IIFPT website
      3. Persons who is already in service (Government/Quasi Government or Private), permanent or temporary and who anticipates delay in forwarding his/her application by his/her parent office, must submit an advance copy of the application along with the application fee direct to the Director, IIFPT so as to reach on or before the closing date. The applications received after the closing date will not be considered. while sending the ‘Advance Copy’ of application(s) directly to the IIFPT by the closing date, the candidate should append a certificate in his/her advance copy of application indicating clearly therein that he/she has intimated his/her parent office/controlling authority/employer of the same and has also simultaneously submitted original application for the said post(s) to his/her parent office/controlling authority/employer with a request to forward the same Through Proper Channel so as to reach IIFPT office positively on/before the closing date. The original application duly forwarded by the parent office must reach the IIFPT within 15 days after the closing date.
      4. Candidates should send the application form addressed to the Director, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Pudukkottai Road, Thanjavur – 613 005. Only the following documents need to be attached with the application form.
        1. The receipt of online transfer(click here) for Rs. 500/- (with name and address of the candidate on its back) as application fee which is non refundable.
        2. SC/ST/Meritorious Sportsperson/PH candidates need not send any fee, but must attach an attested copy of relevant certificate from the competent source.
        3. Attested copies of certificates/degrees in support of educational and professional qualifications.
        4. Candidates are advised to fill each and every column of the application form appropriately. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected.

    Note:

      1. Online Payment after the closing date for receipt of the application in the IIFPT will not be accepted.
      2. Applications not accompanied by the prescribed fee will not be considered. The fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
      3. Candidates applying from outside India should arrange to send application fee of US $20 though online transfer(Ref.Sl.No.17) before closing date for receipt of applications.
      4. Videoconferencing option may be extended for interviewing candidates from outside India.
      5. Copy of Certificates of Academic qualification, experience, publications and their list, award certificates, OBC/SC/ST/PH, proof of special attainments etc. may be enclosed with the application form.
    1. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
    2. Selected person will be governed by either EPF or NPS.
    3. A candidate must be in sound health. He/she must be prepared to undergo such medical examination and satisfy the medical authority as required.
    4. IIFPT cannot advise candidates as to their eligibility for any particular post. It is for the candidates themselves to judge whether they satisfy the prescribed requirements, and whether it is worthwhile to apply.
    5. Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) is an autonomous organization. The grant of leave, pay, advance travelling and other allowances, and other service conditions, of officers and establishments in the service are regulated mutatis mutandis in accordance with the Fundamental and Supplementary Rules, and such other Rules and Orders, as issued by the IIFPT/Government of India from time to time.
    6. All communications, in respect of applications for recruitment against the posts advertised by the IIFPT, should be addressed to the Director, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology, Pudukkottai Road, Thanjavur – 613 005, and should contain the following particulars:
      1. Advertisement No.A/217/2017 and date.18.6.2017
      2. Name of the post applied for and discipline.
      3. Address and phone number, email for correspondence as given in the application form. Communications not giving these particulars are liable to be ignored
    7. Signatures (with date and place) of the candidate are essentially required at appropriate places of the Application Form. The IIFPT in any circumstances will not consider unsigned application.
    8. A separate application with separate fee is required for each post. Applications for two different posts should not be tagged together.
    9. Inclusion of any false information in the application form shall hold the candidate liable for such false information, and action as deemed fit could be taken against such candidate.
    10. The application/‘Advance Copy’ of application submitted personally/by hand or sent through speed post or courier, should reach IIFPT on or before the above said closing date(s). The IIFPT will in no case be responsible for non-receipt of application(s) or any delay in receipt thereof on any account whatsoever. It is also stated that no application received after the above said prescribed closing/last date(s) will be entertained under any circumstances and all the late applications will be summarily rejected, without any notice.
    11. The candidate, who is on deputation/foreign service (ie. serving in ex-cadre post), should also get his/her application through proper channel forwarded through the office in which he/she is on deputation/foreign service in addition to the same being got forwarded by his/her parent officer.
    12. The application(s) through proper channel should also contain the duly filled in ‘Certificate of Verification by the Employer’, verifying/authenticating and indicating clearly the following positively and without fail:
        • (i) service particulars indicated in the application by the candidate;
        • (ii) suitability to the post applied for;
        • (iii) vigilance clearance ;
        • (iv) details of imposition of major/minor penalties, if any, during the last ten years;
        • (v) gist of AAR/ACR/APAR Gradings for the last 5 years; and
        • (vi) Date of receipt of the candidate’s original application in the office, which is to be sent to the IIFPT as ‘Through Proper Channel’ copy of application.
        (vii) Date of receipt of Annual Immovable Property Return (AIPR) proforma for the year 2016 (31.12.2016) from the candidate be indicated and a copy thereof be enclosed for reference.
    13.   1. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and possessing of same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. The applicants/candidates who qualify on screening of applications as per Score Card System adopted by the IIFPT for assessing relative merit of candidates on the basis of educational qualifications, experience, research work, publications, awards etc. will only be called for interview. As such, the candidates are advised to fill up the application form carefully and each and every column of application should be filled up accurately because marks will be awarded on the basis of information supplied by them in each column.
  2. Short-listed applicants/candidates must appear for personal interview at such a place, as may be fixed by the IIFPT. The IIFPT does not defray the traveling or other expenses of applicants/candidates summoned for interview.
  3. IIFPT does not enter into correspondence with the applicants/candidates regarding not calling them for interview or non-selection for interview/appointment.
  4. Original documents in support of various claims should be produced at the time of interview / verification.
  5. The decision of the IIFPT with regard the eligibility or otherwise of any candidate based upon evaluation of the application and particulars/records submitted with the application by the candidate shall be final, and the IIFPT will not enter any correspondence in this regard with the unsuccessful candidates.
  6. The date of interview will be intimated by post to the eligible candidates. Website www.iifpt.edu.in may also be referred from time to time for any further instructions.
  7. All the candidates on the select panel will be offered an appointment subject to medical fitness on medical examination and other satisfactory requirements before actual appointments.
  8. The reserve panel, will be operated strictly as per merit only, in case of a candidate from the select panel resign / refuses appointment or is disqualified. IIFPT reserves Right to exercise Reserve Panel and it cannot be taken as a Right of Applicant.
  9. In case any candidate found ineligible on any ground even after his appointment, his service will be terminated immediately without assigning any reason thereof.
  10. IIFPT reserves the right to fix the criteria for short listing the candidates to be called for interview.
