Department Highlights
Biotechnology at National College is a total practical training with the following exclusive facilities that are not possible to see in other places.
- Four different models of working Bioreactors – Stirred tank, photobioreactor, fluidized bed and air-lift bioreactors with complete kinetic study experiments upto protein lyophilization.
- Animal Cell Culture practical training in Class 1000 Clean Room Facility where stem cell biology and cancer biology research is going on. This training is important for employability in Clinical Embryology in IVF centres of Hospitals.
- Opportunity to work in funded research projects for preparing for a research career after MSc.
- Concurrent PG Diploma in Analytical Techniques – while studying MSc Biotechnology (Details in the flyer attached) No other institutes including University offers this winning edge for pharmaceutical industrial entry.
- Practical training involves only manual preparation of reagents and NO TEACHING KITS ARE USED, as there is no knowledge gain in teaching kits.
- Enzyme technology – from Kinetic experiments upto enzyme purification and lyophilization – important for any R&D and production division of Industries.
- Training in flow cytometry – which is exclusive in the entire region.

To encourage students and promote competitive learning environment in turn to put the entire laboratory facility into full utilization, we offer Semester fee waiver for the class topper. Every semester, class topper (Class First) in Semester examination will get 100% fee waiver for the next semester until 3rd semester. If the same person persistently remains class topper for at least 2 or more times, the fourth semester fee shall also be waived.
